A serious answer...

I had an undergrad/grad class on the Gospel of Luke which I really enjoyed. Luke 11:3 "Give us each day our daily bread." Got a lot of discussion. The key word here is "daily." The Greek is literally "according to the day." This is a prayer pointed at the poor in that country. People who would get up in the morning and not know where they would get that day's bread.

It is hard for modern people to have an understanding of the true nature of this part of the prayer. The poor person of that time would often have to get up early and go into the marketplace and hope to find someone who would give them a job for the day. Imagine their feeling after standing all day hoping to get work when they returned to their family with nothing.

The true meaning we find in the passage is that we need to learn to lean on God for everything, even life itself. We need to be thankful for having our day's bread in the house and not complain about the minor inconveniences we endure.
