Everyone should be made to take a drivers test
every ten (10) years after they get their license
for the first time.

Time and age will affect vision, motor skills and
judgement. But if everyone had to take the test
regardless of age, then the procedure becomes
a standard and not something that only old people
need to worry about.

Nationally, the 70+ age group are the worst drivers, followed by the teen drivers (under 20). I think all ages should have to retest for their license about every 5 years. MVD here in Arozona complains that they cannot do that because they don't have the manpower, but I think paying a nominal fee (5-10 every 5 years) would cover that, reduce injuries and fatalities, and make for better drivers, as they would be forced to have the correct lenses, know current traffic laws, and get a driving evaluation.

the hardship with a using try, pretty for the added mature man or woman, is that deep down they're frequently acceptably solid drivers. some though have a tendency to get sloppy as they become old. Use of alerts is undesirable, forgotten what the handbrake is for, inadequate use of the reflect, slicing corners even as turning correct, hogging the centre lane at streetlevel, and so on. Wait a minute, I see a range of of youthful drivers doing a similar sloppy issues. even as a try is taken the older and wiser drivers will do all issues wisely and be deemed a sensible motive force, however their daily using is undesirable. what's mandatory is a awaken call for all drivers that get into undesirable habit. With older drivers and 50 isn't previous, a immediately ahead commentary and reaction try can be a good commence. As you extremely rightly say, the reaction time starts to decelerate as age creeps on. As an aside, i understand of a lady who's 80 and he or she has a tremor of the top which makes her look faraway from the line unexpectedly and he or she also has to force which includes her head became particularly to at least one area. She had a particular try from a dept of shipping examiner and he or she handed and remains using.

No. Most wrecks are caused by male teens. Should they retake the test every year? You can not discriminate due to age. I do think they should give everyone dexterity and reaction tests. This way they would weed out the ones who really shouldn't be driving no matter the age

Well, let's see. I'm 65, haven't had an accident since I was 22, haven't had a ticket in about 25 years, have vision that tests at 20/20, fly my own airplane, operate boats, pretty much do anything I want. Should I have to be tested like a teenager? Hmmm, do I smell age discrimination here? Oh, and any time you'd like to go to the race track and go one on one, you just let me know.

A GREAT idea. I like the idea given that suggests a test every 10 years. Driving is a PRIVALEGE, and NOT a RIGHT, but that isn't how it's treated. Years ago, we tried to do something about an elderly man we knew who used to talk about how he BLACKS OUT, yet, he was planning a cross-country driving trip. We called the DMV, the Highway Patrol, everyone we could THINK of, and there wasn't anything we could DO about it. SOMEthing should be put into place as a PROTECTION for ALL of us. Nice question! Where do we RATE your QUESTION?

I think at 65 they should have to start renewing every 2 years instead of 4... and for renewal have a physical like CDL drivers do, as well as take they test. I love old people and im just around the corner, but hey sometimes they dont realize they just dont have it anymore and someone has to stop them from hurting themselves or innocent people

Yes, I think so. There are lots to take into consideration though. Physical condition, mental condition, overall health. Not everyone is at the same physical level (spry) as others. There would be a lot to take into consideration before passing a 'law' about this.

Personally I think EVERYONE should retake the written and on-the-road test every 5 years.
