Framing, lighting, and rule of thirds (which kinda goes with framing...but whatever)....

Framing: Make sure you zoom in on what you're shooting. Having a speck of a person and miles of beach is not nearly as good of a picture as a huge smiling face taking up most of frame and a blurry beach background.

Lighting: Having enough light is important to stop blur, or to avoid the psycho-flashed look. Beyond that, lighting should be soft and consistent. If your shot has a combination of very brightly lit white objects and dark shadows, it won't come out well.

Rule of thirds: Look it up for a more details explanation. But it basically means placing important objects on the intersection of 6 lines (3 horizontal, 3 vertical) that cut the frame.

1. hold as still as possible, for best results use a tripod to hold the cammera.
2. Have the best lighting behind you and on the subject. If it is a digital camera they love bright light and hate the dark, a flash isn't as good as natural light.
3. read the manual and get familiar with the functions and settings on your camera, it will make all the differnece in the world.

If someone's taking a picture of you, I've read that to look naturally happy, just think of your favorite place to be, and it will bring about a nature smile to your face :)

If you are taking it.....make sure you got good lighting.....a good background......and good angles. If you are getting your picture taken....I find you look better when you tilt you head slighty-dont look straight forward. Relax....and concentrate deeply on the lense
