You'll see subtle signs of hurricane damage--nothing like the nuclear blast/ground zero type damage to homes on the SOUTH side of the River.

I drove into the French Quarter last month, first time since Katrina, and was very impressed how well things looked. You can expect a very nice visit to Metairie. Just be prepared to see the subtle signs of damage still present.

Metairie is back to normal. All of the restaurants are now open, and Lakeside Mall and all of its stores are now open. The area is very crowded with many things to do. Enjoy your time!

INFASTRUCTURE IN THE CITY IS NONEXSISTENT. CRIME IS VERY MUCH DOWN BECAUSE THE NATIONAL GUARD IS THERE. OF COURSE THE FRENCH QUARTER IS IN FULL OPERATION, BUT MANY OF THE NICE RESTURANTS ARE NO LONGER THERE. ALOT OF THE BUSINESSES HAVE RELOCATED TO BATON ROUGE. I DON'T THINK THE RIVERWALK IS IN OPERATION EITHER.
