I guess i just dont understand it, im not gay but why should i care or think i have the right to tell someone else the moral/relegious rules they have to follow? I could understand if it wasnt a free country and we were under some kind of Relegious rule, but last time i checked that wasn't the case.

Because some believe it is wrong and unnatural. They believe that everyone has a choice, but that the bible says they must not choose to be gay.

But the bible really appears to say, not that gay men shouldn't sleep with gay men, but that straight men shouldn't sleep with other straight men, ect... So, it appears to me, that the bible really just doesn't want straight men having sex. (It does happen, especialy in prison.)
But either which way, even if some-one does think it a 'sin', everyone sins and I don't recall one sin being so much worse that another in the long run. So it boils down to fear and that they've learned to hate it. The conservatives of course, the same people that voted for Bush. What more can I say?

edit:

To answer the message above, animals do 'do it' with the same sex. I raise rabbits. While some males attack each other some horney ones don't care if they are with another buck or a doe. I don't know if there are actual gay animals or not though. Always wondered about that. :)

The framers of the Constitution never thought about gay marriage, but they never thought about the car, the internet, radio, TV, etc either but somehow the Constitution has adapted to changing times. And thats what it ought to do on gay marriage too. It was not that long ago that the Christians were saying Black and White people could not get married because that too was against the bible, but why even base laws on what the bible says? Do you want to ban pork? Lock women outside the gates of the city those certain days? Burn animal sacrifices in the churches? Obviously the whole human race including even Christians has moved on from the Biblical era, thank God. There's no reason anybody should feel gay marriage hurts them because it is irrelevant to them.

I don't know why all of them have a problem with it, but I do know why some do. I've asked this question for years and there are a couple of different scenarios which seem predominant.
a) Being born again saved their life. They were either alcoholic, on drugs, abused, had a loved one die, or suffered some extreme trauma in their lives and were "saved" by the church. The church tells them they must adopt 100% of the belief system they are taught or they aren't good Christians. So - for some, it feels like (and maybe is) a matter of life or death to uphold the church line.
b) The Christian is gay or bisexual, has been taught that being gay is sinful - therefore winds up hating him or herself. The church ignores the true definition of "sexual orientation" and teaches that as long as you do not engage in same-sex activity you are not gay. So, the gay christian hangs on to ever word of the church and convinces him or herself that they are not gay and as long as they have constant reinforcment from the church they are "safe". When gay marriage becomes legal their safety net will crumble. They could be stuck in the difficult situation of finally believing that being gay is acceptable, but surrounded by friends and family who refuse to understand.

The Bible says on more than one occasion that homosexuality, as well as other sexual sins, are wrong. I won't bore you with all the texts, but will let you look up the scriptures yourself: Deuteronomy 23:17, 18 (this refers to a "dog" or that culture's reference to those who lead a homosexual lifestyle. It fits with their culture, because the literal dog is also a symbol of uncleannesss); 1 Kings 14:24 (this was one who sold sex to not only women, but men as well, verified by historical reports of surrounding nations' practices at that time); 1 Cor 6:9 (doesn't really need much of an explanation, it is the clearest condemnation of such a lifestyle. I don't know how the homosexuality advocating churches get around this one, seeing as to how it is in the NT as well).

What's strange is that tho Christians become scandalized, indignant and morally outraged about homosexuality they have no problem with divorce. Divorce is just as strongly condemned in the Bible as homosexuality but you don't hear Christians getting up on their moral high horse seeking to restrict the ability to get a divorce. Weird how gay folks wanting to feel secure in a committed relationship is more of a threat to marriage than divorce. I guess Christians want to keep the option of divorce open for themselves no matter that their God condemns it. It's no wonder they can't see how hypocritical that is since they have that huge plank in their common eye.

PS. didn't Jesus say that if you get a divorce and then remarry you are committing adultery? Is being a divorced adulterer less a sin than being gay?

christians have a problem with it - they don't tell people what to follow, only what they believe. They believe it is wrong because it goes against what the Bible says to be God's plan for marriage, being between one man and one woman. The cities of Soddom and Gamorrah were destroyed by raining fire because of 1. Gay Marriage 2. Adultery

Which obviously means that Christians believe that Gay marriage is wrong because it is like legalizing murder - it goes against the laws of God specifically, so christians try and stop the law because it will lead to more temptation to sin.

Sorry man, it's a democracy, the "crazy christians" havn't taken over, they just have a say in the government, and theres quite a lot of them.

It suposedly says so in the Bible, but I don't think that God is vehemently against it, a lot of inclusive churches accept GLBT people & other people on the " fringes " of society without passing judgement. If churches are going to bar gays from participation, including marriage, they should also exclude alcoholics, drug addicts, gamblers, people with sexual fetishes, chronic masturbators, people who embezzle & do other white collar crimes, doctors in abortion clinics, people who endorse birth control. They should put their money where their mouth is ! ( Speaking more or less from a Christian POV ) To whoever left the 2nd answer after mine - I didn't know gay people had a PROBLEM with gay marriages. Talk about a rock & a hard place.

I also think the Religious Right is trying to focus on it to take some of the heat off of King George for his crappy leadership & poor decisions.

A true Christian follows exactly what the bible states.
1 Corinthians 6;9 What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men,
1 Timothy 1;8 Now we know that the Law is fine provided one handles it lawfully 9 in the knowledge of this fact, that law is promulgated, not for a righteous man, but for persons lawless and unruly, ungodly and sinners, lacking loving-kindness, and profane, murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, manslayers, 10 fornicators, men who lie with males, kidnappers, liars, false swearers, and whatever other thing is in opposition to the healthful teaching ".
Jesus never denied any of this, so His view is the same. It is only when the practice of such is given up that people are able to be forgiven.

Because the God we serve has a problem with it. Since the Creator God instituted marriage, only He can call the shots on what marriage is in His sight. There is no such thing as "gay marriage." That is an oxymoron. And a slap in the Creator's face (if it were possible) to attempt to usurp His anuthority and to claim to be wiser than Him. That is a MORON.
