Looking for a great (scenic) yet challenging road bike trail in the Bay Area?

I'd suggest the Alpine Dam loop which includes a climb up a series of switchbacks to Mount Tam:

For scenic, you can't beat the windy, treacherous road down to Stinson Beach:

I've ridden in the Alps and the Pyrenees, and honestly, I think the ride on Hwy 1 to Stinson Beach beats both for scenery.

Note: Neither of these are bike paths, but thse roads are frequented by cyclists.

I bike up tunnel road at least once per week
