Ladies, if you're out and about, i.e. in the mall or grocery store........what is the best way for a gentleman to approach you?

Just say "hi." Sometimes things are not as complicated as you think they are. After you say "hi" just talk about whatever maybe appropriate at the moment. Example if you start talking to her in the fruit section you can ask her what type of fruit she likes. If a girl likes you after you have said "hi" there is not much you need to do to get her lock down in conversation.

I had a LONG discussion with this in a blogging group of mine just last week. My god did it cause a ruckus!! Almost every woman was under the impression that when a man approaches you in a non-social situation (ie: a mall or grocery store), that we view them automatically as a creep. We'd have no problem with approaching in a club because that is what people are there for...to meet. The only advice I'd give you is to NOT do this. Really, for anyone that's ever experienced this (myself included), it's just plain creepy.
Btw, the guys all felt it was fine, and that women were stuck up. We disagreed. It's not the right time or place.

Be polite and strike up a conversation about what she's doing or where you are. In a grocery store you can always ask someone for their opinion about products. In the mall you can ask for directions or in a book store advice about a certain book.

Just be polite and respectful. Ask where something is - women love to help.
Don't waste time asking her out - if you're interested, put in a compliment and ask straight away.
I have a friend who works at a mall, and guys hit on her all the time. She loves it!

Casually and drum up a discussion over something we have in common. IE, ask me about something in my cart or something. Try not to come on to strong or it'll piss me off.
Some dork was following me around in the store today. I went into the ladies room until he left.

Its always so nice for a guy to come up with something refreshingly original. Its also really annoying when a guy is either A. Cheesy B. Perverted. or C. Lame. in his pick up line. I know this doesn't answer the question but its a tip.

Opinion openers work pretty well. Or a situational ones. I prefer just saying hey after eye contact and a smile. The opener isn't as important as the game that comes afterwards.

Approach me with respect and be tactful. No hey baby or making noises to get my attention. I HATE that! Just come up to me and ask if you can talk to me for a moment.

well i think u should ask a question and then start a nice conversion but some girls like guys that keep it real and get right to the point but either way u should try both...

making eye contact then "accidently" meetine me at the same store. or coming straight forth saying hi, i am blank blank. if you are a teenage guy, then just flirting smiling starring etc
