oh great syria the nation of sand....
I am simply going to state this...they can not beat israel but they have like another other 3rd world nation soviet weapons....
so i present to you the armed forces of syria in a nut shell:
Air Force:
Su-24 - 20
MiG-23BN - 60
Su-22 - 50
MiG-29SMT - 14
MiG-29A - 42
MiG-25 - 30
MiG-23 - 107
MiG-21 - 102
"While the Air Force's size makes it one of the largest air forces in the Middle East, from a qualitative perspective Syria's tactics used during exercises indicate poor planning with regards to close air support and interdiction." -that sums the air force up
Army:
the army to be fair is...crappy
"In 2002, the Syrian army has roughly 215,000 soldiers."
T-54/55 - ~2000
T-62 M/K - ~1000
T-72/-72M - ~1600
they got a lot of artillery and SAM's most notable is SA-13 the army is really no threat to "modern" nations with the T-72 being it's best tank and thats nothing compared to a mark 4 merkava.
Navy:
this force is small and old not much to face
Osa I & II - 12
Petya II - 2
Zhuk PFI - 8
