Every time someone makes an arguement against Christianity, they are bombarded by people going, "Uh, you like, totally know nothing about Christianity! Like, read the Bible, like, DUH." But those same people make arguements against Islam assuming the most rediculous and untrue things about Muslims. Don't they think they should, like, read the Koran before they start putting down a religion they only know about through bigoted sources?
Why won't anyone educate themselves about people who are, I promise you, NOT evil?

Ray W, I'm sure if you tried you could find a list just as long of Christians who have done evil things. The actions of a few do not speak for the minds of an entire religion. Open your eyes.

You are speaking of Americans. And unfortunately most Americans have no desire to know anything about any other culture. The prefer to praise Jesus, watch NASCAR, and vote for republicans. After that, all they care about is protecting our borders from those evil Mexicans.

All a Christian has to do, is read the Q'ran to the point where it says that Jesus is a Prophet, and not the Son of God. At that point, the Q'ran has proved that it advocates the worship of a false god. [If they read a little bit further, they will discover that the Q'ran advocates worship of false gods.]
The next question is why are Muslims so ignorant about the Q'ran?
The Sixth Pillar requires one to go into physical combat. No ifs, ands, or buts,. It demands a holy war against physical enemies. Knowing that, how can anybody claim that Islam is a "peaceful' religion.
The Q'ran claims that two Gods, and two Goddesses are to be worshiped. Knowing that, how can anybody accept the claim of Islam that it is monotheistic? More to the point, how can anybody repeat the first Pillar, knowing that the Q'ran rejects monotheism, in favor of polytheism?
And the list of contradictions between the "Pillars of Islam" and what the Q'ran states goes on and on. Likewise, the difference between the books that are canonical to Islam, and the Q'ran continually show one contradiction after the other.

Why are most Muslims ignorant about Islam? That is a good question.
Maybe they prefer to keep their heads in the sand and not see the hatred all through the Koran.
Maybe Satan has blinded them so much they cannot see the light.
You are correct that not not all "Muslims are evil" only the ones who follow the Koran to the letter are the evil ones, the rest are just deceived.
Here in America very few even follow the Muslim holidays and fast as they should, so they are not "true" Muslims are they.

Sadly no one would educate themselves because of several reasons some of them might be because they have to experience the ease of mind that this religions offers you. Islam has so much more than what people usually think, but because of all the discrimination about this beautiful religion is overly exposed in a negative way in the media, it is hard for people to get the full picture. And instead they just belive all the negative sides that they hear and see about Islam and Muslims. and get the wrong idea. What really needs to be done in order for people to understand what this religion is all about, is not to just go and read the Qur'an! but its also to get to know a couple of muslims and get around go visit the Mousque and ask alot of questions! And the most important part of it is to feel at ease and peace, coz thats what it is all about! After all Islam does mean Peace for a reason! : )

It's not the people that are evil per say, it's the things they do!
Islam is quickly becoming the Christianity of the dark ages and everyone knows how ugly that was.
You can never generalize when talking about such a large group of people. There are many with good intentions and many with evil intentions just like in most faiths. When people see the conflict, genocide (Sudan), and "holy war" that is waged on an endless scale it hardens many to that group of people. When they vow the utter anihilation of Israel, the United States and all other "infidels" they castrate themselves from those that are trying to live sensibly.

Maybe you just don't like any dissent to your religion. Islam isn't a religion where one can openly debate.
Nonetheless, no matter what I say about Islam or Muslims, you will call me ignorant because you will choose to cover your ears. I've lived in two Muslim countries, I have a degree in political science, I've travelled all over the world, including the Middle East and I've read the Koran...and I still don't believe Islam is a religion of peace...maybe you should actually TRY reading it. Anyways, no matter what I say about Islam...you will still call me ignorant because you don't believe people should have their own opinions.

It's simple. Islam teaches that Jesus was a prophet but just a man. Once a Christian hears that they don't need to investigate any further. If they know what the Bible says then they know that this is a false teaching inspired by the spirit of the anti-Christ who seeks to supplant Jesus in people's hearts.
John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God....And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will deceive many.

First of all, christians outnumber muslims in internet because computers and internet came to western world before it came to middle east.
Secondly, religion itself came for the ignorant masses. It appeals to them to hear supernatural stories.
Thirdly, there is some truth to the fact that Christianity came out of a peace-loving Jesus, while Islam came out of a warrior Mohammed. Thus, islam is a warrior religion. Muslims consider waging war as part of its religious obligation. If they didn't, then they would vehemently oppose the radical groups in islam.
And finally, radical elements exist in Christianity too, but these radical elements use sophisticated methods to conquer, convert and expand. The simple-minded peaceful christians have no clue to what their own radicals are doing.
Religion has been the cause of most wars on this planet.

It IS wrong to judge harshly based on religion..especially when this nation is supposed to be founded on freedom and that includes religion...people assume that because certain terroristic groups are muslim, that all muslims are bad...there have been SEVERAL christian based terrorist groups.,but the media doesn't make it sound like all christians are bad...we do need to be better informed.I agree. It's so much easier for people to lump things together, than to realize EVERY religious group has a good and a bad side...even those without religion.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom and concerns with us.
There are plenty of people at this site who wish to promote their own beliefs and tear apart others. This way of communication does more harm than good; in the end, almost all of us, whether we're a Muslim, atheist, Catholic, whatever, feel defensive and disrespected.
Keep in mind that there are many people who are not Muslims who respect your faith and practices. I have known many Muslim people, and have read several books about the Prophet. This has led me to believe that Islam is a beautiful religion. I know many people who feel the same way.
Keep the faith, and ignore the haters. Peace to you and your family.

We are ignorant (or attack) what we do not understand.
It is perhaps impossible for US citizens. . .especially those who have never traveled outside North America. . .to appreciate life, culture, and religion in the Middle East. . .and Islam's nearly exclusive contribution to the region for over 1,500 years.
That said. . .the plight of Persians and certain other Middle Eastern cultures to North America. . .or South Eastern Asian Muslims. . .presents an opportunity for locals to learn more about Islam. . .although this has really only been in less than the past 50 years!
In time there will be less ignorance and more appreciation. . .then knowlege and understanding will follow.
