because people are stupid, they take something as inocent as a clown and turn it into a monster. Thats what people do, get something nice and turn it bad.

What is Clown Fear?
Defined as "clowns", each year this surprisingly common phobia causes countless people needless distress. I should know I am one of them. Just looking at your avatar sent me screaming from the room! Painted faces, spooky hats, strange behaviour where shall I start?
To add insult to an already distressing condition, most clown fear therapies take months or years and sometimes even require the patient to be exposed repeatedly to their fear. Can you imagine being forced to the Circus everyday?
This is totally unnecessary, it will often make the condition worse. And it is particularly cruel as clown fear can never be eliminated
Known by a number of names - Coulrophobia and Fear of Clowns being the most common - the problem often significantly impacts the quality of life. It can cause panic attacks and keep people apart from loved ones and business associates. (Especially as most people in business are clowns).
Symptoms typically include shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and overall feelings of dread, although everyone experiences clown fear in their own way and may have different symptoms. .
Though a variety of potent drugs are often prescribed for clown fear, side effects and/or withdrawal symptoms can be severe. Moreover, drugs do not "cure" clown fear or any other phobia. At best they temporarily suppress the symptoms through chemical interaction.
Consider the true cost of living with Clown Fear.
If you are living with clown fear, what is the real cost to your health, your career or school, and to your family life? Avoiding the issue indefinitely would mean resigning yourself to living in fear, missing out on priceless life experiences big and small, living a life that is just a shadow of what it will be when the problem is gone.
For anyone earning a living, the financial toll of this phobia is incalculable. Living with fear means you can never concentrate fully and give your best. Lost opportunities. Poor performance or grades. Promotions that pass you by. clown fear will likely cost you tens, even hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of your lifetime, let alone the cost to your health and quality of life.
Therefore I believe we must have a downright ban on clowns!!

Just look at Ronald McDonald. Sweet and friendly clown that feeds sugary soft drinks and fattening foods to children. They grow up and realize that damn clown has been poisoning them their whole lives. I would be scared too!

Must be something to do with all the horror movies and the way they are depicted. Scoeity loves to take away everything we place our trust in to make us nervous and scared. What is more satisfying than a distrubing image of something you loved and trusted that use to sit there all quietly at the bottom of your bed, now cutting people and chasing them through woods and towns. We are all messed up and love to be frightened. Its all the move makers have left to change. It will be cute white fluffy killer bunny's next.

Fear of clowns is a recognised phobia....
possibly because of all the make up they wear, you cannot see their true expression

As previously mentioned...watching Stephen King's IT as a very young child is not blameless on this one. As an adult, the film seems a lot more amusing. When I was little I was too frightened too walk into a video shop in case I saw ITs face on the front cover of the video!

Because you cannot see their face or true feelings behind the makeup or mask therefore making you anxious and scared of how they truly are and what they are feeling i aso find the scream mask disturbing. masks in general are extremely anxiety provoking for some people it is a fairly common fear. also stephen kings it doesn't help!
