I actually heard about this from another source a few years ago, but this is probably the one most of you can access easily.
Also, the Book of Mormon is not a "Bible rip-off" - it is a companion to the Bible, and they both support each other to show that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The difference is that one was written in the Old World, and the other was written largely in the New World.

Why is it that many Mormons love the name-dropping? A Mormon woman I once knew well loved to say that Mariah Carey was a Mormon girl who left the church. Seems to me that many LDS members think that dropping a few purportedly true stories of famous people who got close to the church will make other people think that the Mormon church is right/true/the only game in town to get to heaven.
So what if Elvis got a Book of Mormon from The Osmonds? What's your point? I bet other famous people got sacred books as a gift. What's the big deal, really?

Elvis could read? Just kidding. So what if he read it I have read many things in my life (including the book of mormon, the koran and many hindu, buddhist and other religions books) the important thing is one day I found the TRUE book when I read the Bible of Christ.
