The palms of my hands have become quite itchy and over the past couple of days I have noticed some red dots on my palms.. I thought it was due to stress but now I think it could be something else.. Maybe an allergy or dermatitis. After I scratch them it feels as though they are stinging.. Im going to the DR but cant until thursday as its the earliest I could get in.. Does anyone have a remedy to stop the itching?

You could try a hydrocortisone cream or a Benadryl cream. An ice pack or a cool compress may also help. If drowsiness is not a problem, you could try oral Benadryl.

The article below has more options.

Try Benadryll lotion and see if this helps. It will sting at first. It won't get rid of the problem but may help the itching. Make sure you keep your appointment with the doctor. Sometime the itchy hand thing is related to allergies. Sometimes it can be related to other medical problems.

Did you change soap? Be careful with the hands do not over work them. Do not get chemicals on them or detergent on them. Protect them. Go to the pharmacy show them to the pharmacist and ask for an over the counter medication suggestion. There are 24 hour pharmacies. Ask for the pharmacist when you go to the counter. Not the tech. Tell them you are going to the doctor, but need something to get you by. You are going to have to get something anyway. Look for a 24 hour Walgreen's. Pharmacists are used to getting these types of questions. They do not charge.

Do a cool oatmeal paste on them. It should help with the redness and if there is any swelling it will help with that too. Oatmeal has a claming effect on the skin. At least it works for me. Good luck, and even if it goes away still go to the DR.

Use cortizone and take Benadryl. It really helped my daughter a lot. I don't know what this was but the whole family got it...if it is the same as ours you won't have it by the time you make it to the Dr. It was driving us all crazy...never found out what it was. Feel better soon!

Benadryl is usually what is recommended for an allergic type of reaction (which is sort of sounds like you are having). Glad that you are going to the doctor. You can also try hydrocortizone cream applied to your palms as well.

Oatmeal Soap!!!. It worked wonders for me. the palms of my hands looked like some one took a cheese grater to them. Someone gave me a bar and it has worked miracles. You can probably pick it up at any health and nutrition store. Good Luck.

Could be poison oak. . . put hydrocortizone cream on it. You can also take benadryl at night if the itching keeps you awake. Good luck!
