Is it alright to work out a day after you are sore? It probably isn't, but how bad could it get? Effects?

Don't work out the same muscle group that is sore. Say you did chest today, you should wait 4 or 5 days before you do chest again. Or until it's not sore. However, tomorrow, you can do biceps and back. That's completely fine. Just make sure that you're not sore all over by the end of the week, because that will lead to over training your body, and you will start declining in terms of muscle mass.

When you become sore from working out it means that you are using muscles that have not been used in a long time. Drink plenty of water and yes it is OK to continue working out as long as your can still move about. If the soreness gets worse or doesn't go away in a few days; then take a break and let the muscles rest. But just remember that in order to build muscle you first have to tear the muscle. Good luck

It's ok to work out when you're sore. Just alternate parts of the body and give them a day to rest in between. From what I've been told by a personal trainer at 24 hour fitness, you're sore because it's called micro tears in your muscles. The more you work them, the faster they build. Now if there is any truth to that I don't know, but I've always worked out even when sore.

It depends on what you mean by sore. If you just are kind of achy it probably won't hurt and may actually be good for you to stretch and continue using those muscles. If you are so sore you're having trouble moving around or are needing to take painkillers, it would be good to give yourself a day's rest. It could be a sign that you've injured yourself, or your inhibited movement may cause you to injure yourself. Hope this helps!

It depends on the nature of the soreness. If it is from injury, lay off. If it is typical delayed onset muscle soreness, a workout may even make you feel better. As you get into better condition, soreness will become far less frequent.

Soreness from weight lifting is caused by damage to the muscle, it tears it....It must repair itself, thats why you need protein.
If you lift hard, or sprint, you will retard the growth, you will make anabolism difficult.
