There are always groups of runners and bikers in Central Park during the early hours before work. Stay where there are runners and close to bikers on the main paths. You should be safe. I used to run every morning at 5:30-6am and nothing happened. Tell your doorman or hotel concierge or someone where you are going. Take your cell phone. Have fun.

i wouldnt go to any park alone in the early morning especially central park

it depends how early. crackheads never sleep. if its like 6 am people are out joggin and walking the dogs. but at like 5am when its not light outside, its not a good idea.
