Gas, because you can turn the flame up or down and get an immediate response. With electric, it takes a minute for the temp. to change, and if you're turning it down because it's too high, you have to move your pan to a different burner.

Unfortunately, since I moved out of my parents' house a billion years ago, I've never lived in a place with a gas stove. I've just adapted to the electric.

GAS GAS GAS. the flame is hot faster and when you turn off the burner it doesn't stay hot and burn the bottom of your meal. It is also better for lighting cigaretts, and doing a flambe. P.S. ever try to make a s'more on an electric burner when you've got the munchies?

Gas, w/o a doubt! Easier to control and cooks more efficiently. Also less expensive to run that electric.

You don't see professional chefs in restaurant and hotel kitchens cooking on little round electric heating elements, do you?

I had a gas stove for a few years and really liked it, because boiling was faster and generally it was just a better cooktop.

I like the way that gas heats up. But I hate the way that it smells. But it is supposed to be more envirnmentally friendly, and save money on your monthly bill. Elctric takes longet to heat and costs more.
