The Bible is actually more applicable than ever before, and here is why: more people than ever have access to it. Therefore, they can literally apply the teachings of Jesus and the commandments of God in their own life. Now, for a different definition of "applicable", meaning "relevant". Yes, the Bible is relevant. Just because people may not want to listen to or adhere to the teachings of the Bible, doesn't make it irrelevant. Those who are aware of the Ten Commandments and/or The Beatitudes, and turn their back on them, will be held accountable for their decision. It's like a speed limit; it applies to all, but not everyone drives at or under it. But it still is relevant, because it saves lives. Same principle.

I think the Bible should be read and followed with the understanding about the times it was written and why it was written. It's like reading a manual for computers written 50 years ago,,,,the basics are the same but it would be useless if you tried to make it work with todays computers. The authors of the 50 year old manual could not foresee what our computers would be like today.

Well I know I am going to make a lot of my Christian brothers and sisters mad, but the true is the true. It is our fault for the way things are in this world today. God's Word says in 11Chronicles 7: 14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and willforgive their sin, and will heal their land." Can't get much planner then that now can it?

Which part are you referring to? The ritual animal sacrifices? The polygamous marriages? The part where God says its okay to murder a girl's parents and force her to marry you?

Sadly, yes, the Torah, Bible, and Koran are still used to provide moral guidance today. The world would be a much better place if that stopped.

If you did not accept anything else in the Bible, it would still be worthwhile for one passage: the "Golden Rule." Treat other people the way you would want to be treated. If everyone did that, wouldn't the world be a better place?

Sometimes in this world it is hard to separate good from bad. There are malacious people out there. God exists to give his direction, hope and guidance to take the right path in life and do good towards others. Hatred is a product of evil and the only way to fight is believe that being good towards others in spite of their meanness is the way to reach salvation. God wanted us to choose him. He didn't force us. He wanted us to see the other side of the coin so we could see his loving and compassionate heart.
In order to be at peace in this crazy world, we must remember how Jesus lived his life giving to the poor, praying for his enemies, healing the sick and forgiving the sinners.

Of course. The people in the bible went through many of the same things we do today. It stands forever. Follow Jesus. It isnt that hard...only that non-believers are doing things their own way so its ok to be different. God bless you and take that dirty look off your face.

ITs been almost 2,000 years.
Revelation 22:7- Jesus says, "Behold, I come quickly."
hmmmmmmm? I just wait for jesus to get his as-s down here~quickly!
Thats not going to happen and this is the reason why no one is coming back.
In ezekial chapter 1
its tells the real story of the real god, and his angels.
If we looked at one of those angels that is described in that chapter we faint and die.
We cant look at mice with out screaming and killing them what makes you think we wont do that to jesus and the angels that he is supposed to bring. Its fear and we must conquer it~quickly!
