my cat does this in the summer due to fleas, (which she is an inside cat) and heat... i have to put her in the spare bathroom, litterbox, food and water, she will stay there, she doesn't like getting on the carpet, she thinks there is fleas, one year there was, but not this year, she also has behavior problems, which the vet has to fix....
