I know of a lot of railroads from 1800's, but just do not know which was the very first. If you do know could you please tell me if there is a web site or a map to show where it started

The first railroad chartered in the US was the Quincy Granite Railroad in Massachusetts. Later, it became a part of the Old Colony RR, then the New Haven RR, then, Penn Central.. not sure what happned after that.

The first US built rail road supposedly was in Lewiston , New York around 1764.
