Our mission was to remove Saddam Hussein, and we have done that. Does it really matter if Iraq is safe or not?

At this point it doesn't appear as if the insurgents have much chance to overthrow the Iraqi goverment, so that's a victory in a certain sense.

Well...Yeah.... ( Duh ) After a Country invades another Country & removes that Country's leader ( whether he's bad or good ) the invading Country can't just leave the other Country without a leader & in Shambles!!!
We had no thought or plan on what we were going to do if we got Saddam much less remain there 3 + 4 years later to the day..... now look at what's happening. If you ask me....... Saddam was doing a better job than we are ......at least he had the place running, people working, oil flowing, ( No WMD's ) no terrorist bombings( especially not everyday, every week or month )! We invaded Iraq on a false pretense ...... and now we have to clean it up. Iraqi's need to eventually take hold of their own Country if they care about it enough.

We have not won the war in Iraq, because although we've taken Saddam out of power, their new government & military are not yet self-sustaining. Really, there are no winners in a war.

It is not a war in Iraq, per se. But is a war on who gets the oil first and who gets to have a certain control of the middle east. Basing on these two, I can fairly say, that the US is gaining the last laugh!

The long term goal is to set up a puppet government that will cater to the interests of the oil companies based in America and Great Brittan and to further destabilize the region so profits can be made by an (un-certain or manufactured) peace. .......Everything else is a God damn lie!

Conservatives say no. They say we need to establish safety and crush the insurgents or else they will take over.
And I thought we went in there because of WMD's? You wouldn't be suggesting that Bush would lie would you?
