I have tons of photo albums and also greeting cards. It seems like these would qualify for shipping "book rate"/media mail via USPS, but I can't tell from the description on thier website. Do you know?

Yes, you can. And if you use priority or express mail they'll even give you free packaging for your items. Media mail can take two weeks but if your not in a terrible hurry, and if you pack it properly your pictures will arrive in excellent condition.

I would think that you can, based on the info on the USPS site:
Media Mail® service is a cost efficient way to mail books, sound recordings, recorded video tapes, printed music, and recorded computer-readable media (such as CDs, DVDs, and diskettes). Media Mail can not contain advertising except for incidental announcements of books. The maximum weight for Media Mail is 70 lbs.
Also, due to abuse of the system, they can and do open mail to confirm that it's media mail.

Just remember, though--it's VERY SLOW!! It could take weeks to get to it's destination when sent media rate!
