My favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe is right on the back of the Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsels package. They are very good and the recipe is an easy one!
There is also a recipe for a chocolate chip pan cookie. These are really good, too. Happy baking!

I have 2 answers:
1) Add a box of instant pudding (can use any flavor but I prefer vanilla) to the regular Tollhouse recipe on the back of Nestle chip bag, and it will make the cookies more flavorful and chewy, OR
2) a recipe from my daughter's "Barbie cookbook" (don't laugh). I'm telling you it makes the best choc chip cookies. Only drawback is that it is in small amounts, and you can't double the recipe; it doesn't come out the same:
Makes about 20 cookies
350 degree oven
Beat 8 Tbsp softened butter with 1/3 cup brn sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar until smooth, then gradually beat in one egg.
Beat in 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp vanilla, and 1/2 tsp. baking soda, then stir in about 6 oz. choc. chips.
Spoon mounds onto a baking sheet lined with wax or parchment (or can do without). Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden (we let them go closer to 15).
They make fluffy soft cookies which don't spread out and lose their shape.

I spent some time figuring this all out so listen up. Any recipe is good, it is all technique and personal preference. here are the tips you need to bake em like a pro.
if you like em chewy substitute some molasses in place of white sugar.
If you like crispy cookies, use white sugar and less brown or no molasses.
and finally to get nice round uniform cookies roll dough into balls and chill before baking. this makes them take more time to spread out on the pan and they stay good and thick without the burnt edges
Last but not least, I highly reccommend the AIR BAKE brand of pans

i agree use the recipe on back of the toll house bag. I also ad a tablespoon of cold water. It makes them super moist. Over the years the toll house recipe has changed and my grandma told me that is what it said to do years ago....
I have tried many recipes for choc. chip cookies at Christmas time. Toll house is the best...

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 (8-ounce) block dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt into a medium bowl and set aside.
Place the butter, sugar, and brown sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer; cream together on medium speed until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Beat in the vanilla and eggs. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and continue to mix until a smooth batter forms. Turn off the mixer and fold in the chocolate chunks using the spatula.
To form the cookies, scoop about 1/4 cup of cookie dough into your hands and roll it around into a ball; place them about 3-inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets; you should get about 4 cookies on each pan. Press down the tops of the dough slightly and bake until the cookies are light brown, 12 minutes for chewy cookies, or about 15 minutes for crispy cookies.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Repeat with remaining dough/cookie sheets.

I agree that the recipe on the back of Nestle chips is great - but last time my boyfriend made them for me, he used white chips, milk choc. chips and semi-sweet... they were awesome!
