By extrapolation, then it would be possible to kill all others suspected of a crime, without the safeguard of courts. While I am most annoyed with the courts for not having testicles to do what is right and fitting, we still have to assume innocence until proof is certain. It matters not that the person owns a ranch, as that confers no special right or power, but it would matter much to the court if the land was not posted and appropriate warnings visible. In most states, we must feel intimidation or fear for our lives before we can react with violence. So it might be a case of a pocket knife against a .357....you would likely find yourself charged with manslaughter at the least and second degree murder is more likely. Philosophically, does any human have the right (even the courts) to take a life. In the Christian belief, there is only one chance for heaven and to deprive anyone to have the chance to be judged on his whole merits should damn the soul of the person murdering someone. The illegality is a stupid point as people want a different life, as did the pilgrims and the others colonists, so if your forbears came from Europe, then technically you walk in the same shoes as that illegal. While the US does not need or want further illegals, action against them must be equally applied by the government but the stupidity is that anyone with sufficient money can pay their way into the country and do it legally. While a man tries to feed his kids and look out for their future, others can fly in and buy property...as the Japanese have done in many major cities. Don't look harshly at the peon, but do look seriously at those taking control of your country.

Yes,they should be able to defend themselves and their property! WHATEVER it takes.
The illegals are clearly trespassing on his land. Illegals destroy the ranchers fences, kill their livestock, and leave their filth on the ranchers land. There have even been instances of illegals assaulting the ranchers and their familys!
The drug runners also come across on these ranches, and they are armed and dangerous. This is one more reason the ranchers carry weapons when they are out checking fences!
The ranchers should have every right to defend themselves and their property! Illegals know they are commiting a crime by sneaking into the country,so if they get shot, then it's their own damn fault!

" not immediate threat" are you kidding me..That is your property..how do you know what is going to happen..There was article awhile back about something to this --and the Illegals were hiding out in one of the farm houses down the way ( yes, like you said this is thousands of acres) and when the rancher asked them to leave they started to over come him..so he shot them..now the rancher is up for charges from the Mexico gov. So If someone is hiding out on my land the answer is YES..

I think they should be able to only if they ARE threatened by the PERSON (it's easy to call names - how childish). Like they are holding a weapon or headed towards their home. Most of the time, they are simply harmless.
I don't agree with letting illegal immigrants into the country, but I certainly don't think MURDER is the answer.

No, unless they are breaking into their home or trying to hurt someone else. I know what you are saying because I live on the Border. It is best to let the Border Patrol do their job.
