Oh yeah! First time I did, I stopped, looked around for my mother! I think we do this because our parents ingrained these platitudes into us a lot at a very young age! My personal favorite (which my kids think is funny): If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you do it?
Peace

Oh no way! My mother has the most ridiculous ways of thinking. For example..she thinks if you put jeans on your daughter she will become a lesbian..enough said..LOL
My mother is a labor and delivery nurse, yet she doesn't think that anyone can breastfeed if they can't get their babies to latch on the first day.
I'm trying to teach my children real things and not be so closed minded..hopefully they will grow up to be intelligent adults

When my sons were younger, I use to give small portions of food.. and offer seconds, and thirds.
Once, my youngest just would not eat oatmeal for breakfast.. so I told him he could have that for lunch.. he didn't eat it then either, so I said okay, for supper.. then for breakfast. I set the bowl before him and he looked at me.. he ate it. Mind you.. I made it fresh each time.. he didn't know that until he much older I just wanted them to try new foods.. and it was never more than 2 or so tablespoons.
My dad shoved food into my mouth and held his hand over my mouth, tilted my head back.. I do not know if I swallowed it or not, but I do know that I ran darn fast as soon as he let me go!

My mom told me that to and do you know they did a study on kids that have been told that and most of them as young adults become obese? seriously, I'm not being rude, but try not to tell your kids that. My son is only one and he eats very well right now. I'm going to have to restrain myself from telling him the same thing my mother told me though, I'm sure.

Hee, hee, hee.. yes. This is funny because I do this all the time. My kids get a kick out of it. My favorite: "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt". I even tell them my hard life story,"when I was your age we had to go to school with Dad in his work truck- and he wore a goofy looking tabagon- now, couldn't it be worse?"

LOL....yes!! I hear my mom in me allot! And I also understand why she hated summer vacation. LOL And when I tell them what my kids do wrong they are always saying, "I know someone who used to do that". Good question.
