what does that mean.

He denied it was guilt.

He's also a jet setter (travels a lot for work and recreation) and not residing in the US (I'm American). I'm not up English on cultural habbits nowadays. He's also divorced and pushing 40. (Some other things I'm not used to).

Any and all help from anyone M from the UK will be taken under advisement.

Cheers!

I'm terrified of dating (saftey issues, not good in awkward situations or small talk in such a setting, etc) He's not 40 but much older than I'm used to. Just trying to understand the motivation for a date when the "goal' has been attained

Sounds completely innocent and romantic to me. Looks like you worked up an appetite in him! Being 40, there will be no head games for the most part. What you see is what you get. Enjoy the dinner!

You WERE planning to eat again after you had sex with this guy, weren't you?

You're making a real big deal about his behaviour, age and whatever, but you don't seem to take much notice that YOU agreed to sleep with him. So what if he's older than you? It didn't bother you earlier. Get over yourself.

He obviously likes your company otherwise he would have just got out of bed showered and left. He also probably has other women on hand. Just enjoy the times you spend together and don't take them seriously

He wants to see you again after sex and that is shocking to you?

Sound to me like he wants a repeat performance.
