If you think about it, in the UK you go out, drink beer, get merry and walk home with a traffic cone on your head.

With the amount of things that are legal in Holland it must be a constant suprise in what state they wake up in. Wearing clogs is the sign of a quiet night out. How else do you explain the whole windmill / tap dancing mice thing?

I'm Dutch and I do wear clogs. I love them. I also live in a mill and I pluck tulips for a living.

The reason the Dutch wear clogs is because the Netherlands is below sea level. It's only a matter of time before the dams break and the whole country will be flooded. Because clogs are made out of wood, they will float so that the people wearing the clogs won't drown. Because of the clogs we can - as it were - walk on water.
