My friend swears he lost about 80lbs in 6 months by eating 1000 cal a day. I have been doing this for a couple weeks and have lost eight lbs with very little excercise. I will work out more but have had a hectic few days. Usually i try to walk the dog a couple of miles or walk on the treadmill for awhile then do a few minutes on an eliptical trainer. Amazingly 1000 calories is enough for me to feel full most days if i pick the right foods. Will 1000 calories and light exercise be enough to help me shed 50 lbs in 5 to 6 months?

While cutting calories in your diet is what helps you lose weight, 1000 calories a day is not enough. You are basically starving your body and you will show a loss, however, you will eventually gain it back when you resume eating higher calorie foods.

I lost over a hundred and fifty pounds rather quickly but healthfully. I ate more food than I ever did in my life and was never hungry, tired, and did very little exercise.

Keep this meal between 400 and 600 calories. Serve yourself a smaller sized portion, so if you like returning to college for seconds, you'll just finish up eating a normal-size portion.

1000 calories a day is borderline starvation.. You will definitely lose weight fast, but if you increase your caloric intake back up to a normal amount (2000-3000), you will put all the weight back on, theoretically... Proper diet and exercise is the only way to lose weight and keep it off... Trust me, I've lost 60 pounds!!!

Lucky you to feel full on 1000 calories, thats not much food. In all the fitness books they say not to go below 1200.

Add veggies to baked merchandise. You'll never even taste the actual zucchini in these brownies or maybe the sweet potato in most of these cookies.

One word.... NO

Why... because unless your under 4 foot high... the body needs AT LEAST..1200 calories..to lose weight... I can't lose weight unless i eat at least 1400 calories a day..

Anything under 1200 calories puts your body into starvation mode. you'll lose weight for about a week or two and then stop. Your body thinks you're starving and will stop burning the fat. No matter what you do you will not lose unless you eat enough.

If you're constantly wanting high-sugar, high-fat foods, it may mean you need to eat more protein.

Use fruit to add natural sweetness rather then white sugar. Try this muffin recipe.
