The scale is ones worst enemy. BMI--body mass index is another poor judge. I'm 6' 3" 305 lbs 45 years old, according to BMI I am morbidly obese. I have a 35" waist and 10% body fat. If one saw me they definitely would not say I was obese.
How does one judge themselves?.................. How do you look in the mirror. How do your clothes fit? That's more accurate that body weight.
If there is a girl that weighs 120 lbs.and has 30% body fat who is fatter her or I? She's a skinny fat person.
Proper eating and PROPER exercise is a lifestyle change. Also having self confidence and being fulfilled makes you an attractive dynamic person.
I know a lot of questions come on diet and fitness are from teenagers. That a very tough time in ones life. Always believe in yourself! Everybody has some insecurities.

Probably because most people have an inferiority complex and cannot deal with the fact they do not look like the computer edited images on magazines. They want reassurance that they are beautiful and can look just as good as people on magazines. People need to realize that the media is just brainwashing us into thinking that unless you are 46 pounds, you are fat. This is why we hae so many anorexic people nowdays.

People ask the question because they think they are fat. They don't waste their time considering those things you mentioned about. They prefer to compare themselves with others who have smaller bone size and have fat more than muscle.
I think it's not a pleasure to your eyes to see someone very thin that when the wind blows, you afraid they will flow away.

Maybe it's because they feel unsure of themselves. They might not know what a "right" weight is for their age or height etc. And of course they probabaly need some help and encouragement from others to feel better.

People are just looking for gratification. Most of the people that ask if they are fat, probably don't even think they are. They just want some sort of reassurance and choose to ask their fellow internet dwellers if they think that they are. They're just self-conscious and think that they need everyone's o.k. before they're considered "not fat".

Many people are insecure regarding their appearance, especially their weight.
Some people just need to hear other peoples opinions and often a kind word or even a lie helps to ease their anxiety.

People are unsure of themselves and unlike individuals (such as you and I) that know how it all works, they try to find quick fixes or answers to questions they themselves can't answer. Sure there are lots of things that contribute to one's weight. But there is even more that contributes to one's self esteem. Ponder what I have said and ask yourself if you are trully happy with yourself. If you are then you have no question to ask, if your not, then you have to find out why :)

It's sad that kids these days have to ask people through the internet about their weight...Blame it on our culture, being raised with the idea of having to be 'beautiful'

They ask those questions because those individuals are probably fat but don't want to realize it, so they ask in the privacy of the internet instead of asking someone in person... i guess

We wouldn't know if they were fat, and they shouldn't care!!! What you look like on the outside that counts! It's who you are on the inside that counts the most! It's also the person that tells them if they are, they should be entitled to their opinion!!
