If you were to exercise your abs, for instance, would that help to actually burn fat in your belly, or would it just tone your muscle?

I do know that cardio burns more fat than anything. However, if cardio has gotten you in pretty good shape, but you still have a pad of fat over your belly, will ab exercises help burn the fat, or will they just tone the muscle?

hey hun....the truth is cardio burns calories and fat and execising like cruches only tone the muscle underneath..thats why people get so mad when they do endless cruches and still dont see their abs..because you have to get your heart rate up (cardio) to burn off the fat so your nice toned muscles shine though...love daisy

There is no proof that exercising a specific area will burn more fat in that particular area.

If you exercise your abs, you are just building muscle mass inside and toning it. However, if you do not do cardio, you will not lose the layer of fats above it and no matter how many sit ups you did, you will not see your 6 packs.

Try this out. It is good.. i tried it once myself ;)

Yes, of course..working on a specific area burns the fat & tones your muscle in that area. The more you workout your muscles, the more fat you burn.

No. You can't just burn fat in one spot. When you workout you burn fat all over your body you can't just burn fat in one area. Just tone the muscle in that area.

It depends on what you do. Wiehgt lifting will build muscle but not remove fat. Running will burn off that fat.
