hm you should feel this by the feeling and a gut instinct feeling. How do they act towards you? do they show display of affection take you to places and if they cant do they do things for you care for your well being and ask you how you are in life in every day discussions the ways they show u love is not monetary but caring and protecting what you have..most guys say back yea i love u too as you say it they repeat and vica versa yea they can say it do they prove it .. what will they go thru and do for you.. how they show u respect is one love is something you grow into not fall into.. you just have to go with your instinct and if you doubt perhaps they don't.. otherwise your instinct is telling you your not feeling loved or happy enough.. and if they do love you perhaps then your question is do you love them

In practice you have to way up the verbal comment with other information, how they interact with you, have they been deceitful in the past, your own feelings to towards them, will all influence how you weight the truthfulness of their comment.
