getting 3 wisdom teeth pulled and wondering about the time when i can reasonably hit the gym again (weight training) without risking anything. I know when im all healed would be the best bet, but would working out while healing be safe?

The recommended time to wait prior to doing any strenuous activity after having your wisdom teeth removed is seven to ten days. This time period will allow the blood capillaries to heal and the blood clot to form aiding in proper healing of the surgical sites. Working out or strenuous activities while healing will MOST LIKELY not do any serious harm other that prolong the healing time. You should ask your dentist after the surgery what he recommends due to the severity of the impaction and bleeding. Good Luck.

I had two wisdom teeth removed Tue. 7/18. I took vicodin that day and went to work the next day but should not have gone to work. I worked half a day and felt awful on the way home. I actually vomited in the car while driving. It was disgusting. I recommend asking the dentist/oral surgeon and taking it easy. I have completed three marathons and have a pretty high pain tolerance. I still do not feel 100 percent five days after the procedure. I highly recommend taking it easy. Good luck!!

If you are lifting weights or doing exercises that would require you to strain, you could risk dislodging the blood clot if you start exercising to soon. The best bet is to follow your doctors orders. You don't want to dislodge the blood clot because that causes longer healing time!!

I'd do 4 days to be safe, but you may be ok after a couple. Be more cautious than daring i think.
