I just cleaned out my rabbit cage and put all the hay on the ground so it could disintegrate. And two of my male cats (they're brothers) "marked their territory" on the hay. They are both neutered.

Male cats are very known for leaving or marking their territory all over the place especially if they are not fixed

Yes cats definitely mark their territory.. However, your cats may think the hay is a good place to pee pee .. Because I had a cat who used to urinate where ever he saw garbage or stash of leaves or junks (not in the house though).. One think you can do is clean up the place and spray some lemon juice there.. Lemon scents may keep them away.. If that doesnt work .. leave some double sided tape there.. Cats hate sticky stuff..

Yes, cats can mark their territory. Although it might be that they both just thought that the hay would be a good place to urinate on.

All cats will mark their territory and not only with urine. Have you ever noticed cats rubbing things with their faces? They have scent glands in the mouth area that will brand things as their own. Cats as a rule are very territorial.

They sure do. Cats usually stop spraying once they're fixed though. Seems to me that if they're outside cats, they're probably marking their territory against other cats. Or they could just need to go ;)

Unaltered male cats frequently mark their territory. It is best to have male cats who will be kept indoors neutered by six months of age to avoid this habit.

My cat is neutered and he marks his territory on this bush outside. The same bush every time he goes out.

Yeah, catz mark their territory so that other cats and animals know not to mess with their territory. They cover up any unwanted scents of animals, sometimes including people too.

Yes,cats will pee on anything to mark their territory. I'm surprised they haven't tried to get your rabbit. They have that spray that repels cats and dogs from getting into certain areas. Try it!
