My bf and I were outside a jewellary shop ytd. He commented that: " I buy for u that 400+ ring" (as he points to a ring), its quite big to me already" and i answered: " i prefer that 600+ dollar ring, thinner ring, bigger diamond." haha.. then we walked away from the display. Is he hinting something or just making a passing remark?

He could have just been admiring the jewelry. If you get a ring, then you'll know he wasn't just making a passing remark.
Hopefully, you've discussed marriage...and this isn't some big shock to you. If he does propose...you need to make sure you really agree on all the important things in life...where you're going to live...if you're having children...your strategy for saving and spending money...it's so much more than just plopping a ring on your finger and saying "I do".
If you have a similar values and styles...then you stand a chance of it working out. If you're a spender and he's a saver...and you don't come up with a plan..you're going to fight about money. If he wants kids and you don't...you're going to fight about that. If he's a disciplinarian and you're a marshmallow...that's an issue.
Don't get married unless you can agree on how you're going to blend your lives and your styles together...
