The "amen" isn't refering to males. "men" may be the English word for adult males, but the word amen was around long before the English language was. And whether you pronounce it Ay-m-eh-n or Ah-m-eh-n seems to not matter either (since I hear it both ways).

I did read an interesting article that Amen may have been derived from Om (Aum). That the Am in Amen sounds a lot like Aum which Hindus say are the first sounds of creation (in fact the symbol of Hinduism is the symbol used in the Devangari writing system that represents that sound...the sound is so important it has its own symbol in the alphabet!). It was interesting. I'm not saying that there really is a connection, just that it was mentioned.

As for religion favoring males....well some religions seem to favor males, some seem favor females, some have a nice balance, and some are gender neutral (you just have to look into the religions). You also have to consider the culture in which the religions developed as well.

Peace be with you.

Quick theology lesson here: pre-christian religions often had women holding a great deal of political power. What better way to gain political power than sling mud at the opponent? This is exactly what happened. And some people got it in their heads to create a religion that equates a woman to the level of property, that way they'll never get that much power, again. It happens all the time in politics, just on a smaller scale. And btw, the Egyptian god that was mentioned, his name was Amun Ra, not Amen Ra.And 'amen' just means 'certainly' or 'I agree'.It's the equivalent of 'The End' at the end of a story.Personally, I prefer the Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster's way of ending a prayer : "Ramen".

Amen is meant that we(the prayers) hope our God Almighty will give permission or approve to our request or our beg or our appeal usually it is spoken at the end of our pray.I think Islamic religion is not biased in favor of males.I do not know what is the ,meaning of awomen.Do you mean it as not women ?Islamic religion give more respect to women or females than to males.Children should go first to their mother if their father also asked for help in the same time..Heaven is under mother's feet.Women should be treated tenderly.Woman is created by God Almighty from the shoulder blade of man ,which is always
crooked ,bent or curving..In our Holy Qur'an our God often spoke
to males but it is be inforced fo women also. But if our God spoke for women,it is be inforced only for women.

The -men in Amen does not refer to men [ i.e. male humans].

The word Amen (Tiberian Hebrew אָמֵן ’Āmēn "So be it; truly", Standard Hebrew אמן Amen, Arabic آمين ’Āmīn, Ge'ez' አሜን ’Āmēn) is a declaration of affirmation found in the Hebrew Bible and in the Qur'an. It has always been in use within Judaism and Islam. It has been generally adopted in Christian worship as a concluding formula for prayers and hymns. In Islam, it is the standard ending to suras. Common English translations of the word amen include: "Verily", "Truly", "So be it", and "Let it be".

Christianity is not biased in favor of males. and amen has nothing to do with men. Amen is from the Hebrew meaning "so be it" or "yes, it shall be so".

Not all. The religions that pre-date Christianity tend to be very much equal for both sexes. That is why you are seeing a growing trend of people, particularly women, going back to Pagan religions, especially Wicca. Women are held in as high an esteem as men are. All sexes, races, and religions are considered equal. The way things should be.

"Amen" is just the word for it, used for more than 2000 years. They relation to "men" in the english language is just a concidence, mainly because there are many other languages in the world in which people say "amen" and the word for "men" in there is completely different than the english one.

Although your question is based on a pun, there is a real question as to why male terms dominate. And so I'll answer that. Patriarchal societies use patriarchal symbols; all of these things are just symbols. One person who had a direct experience of god, found the patriarchal symbols to be unsatisfactory; therefore, he remarked 'trully, you are my mother'. The symbols aren't important; how they are used are. If they're used to lead to an experience of love for everyone and yourself and complete non-judgment, then they're worthwhile. If they're used to bicker about the form of the symbol, then it's not a beneficial symbol for you. Simple.
