and take the kids. He says grits are uncivilized, and that I should have polenta instead. What should I do, I have to have my grits.

he sounds kinda rude. I am in California and i am white and i like grits...and cream of wheat. They are good! you should show him who wears the daddy pants in the relationshp...You!. You are a strong wise black woman and you aint gonna let a white guy walk all over you...if this is...unattainable just say "fine i wont eat them no more. Just for you!" but the next morning eat some cream of wheat and when he brings it up just say " No Honey this is cream of wheat..it's much more civilized." But make shure this is all said with a Stepford Wives, smiling, flight attendant, happy grin! Good luck and email me what happens next...i am dying for the next enthrallment!!!

I'm white and what in the world is polenta? I'm from the south and I'd rather have grits. Tell him grits are a food not a characteristic! Have them for another meal instead of breakfast!! Uncivilized is a way of behavior.

If he leaves you over something as unimportant as grits then I say "Good riddance!" However your breakfast choices do not give him any right to decide custody over the children. A judge will decide that and I doubt what you eat for breakfast will have any effect on his or her decision. Now to keep your marriage together either give up grits or talk with him about it. Are you making him and the kids eat grits too? If so, stop that, let them eat what they want. If not, tell him to get off it and it was not part of your vows to never eat grits as long as you both shall live.

I'm a white man, and a southerner. I think you should eat grits. what the hell is polenta anyway? Sounds like something I'd be scared to try, and I'll try damn near anything. I'd tell him to carry his ***, and see what the judge has to say about the kids. Very few judges will take kids from their mother unless they have reason to believe she is unfit to raise them. And I seriously doubt eating grits makes you unfit.

You could try putting yellow food coloring into your grits and tell him it is polenta. It will be fun to see if Mr. Civilized will actually know.
