Have an early date...take her to a beach to watch the sun come up and pack a picnic breakfast. Enjoy a nice, romantic walk on the beach for a while and then teach her how to surf. Lots of people do picnics, but not many do breakfast picnics, you'll get points for originality.

That is truly sweet, you wanting to make plans for the perfect date! You obviously want to impress her, if you didn't you wouldn't care about just doing the old "dinner and a movie" thing. But that's great! It's alright to step out of the box.
My advice: You have a great advantage because you two where friends first and you have an idea of the things she likes. You could teach some other guys a thing or two about starting a relationship. If you know some of the things she likes, try to integrate them and keep the date interesting. You don't have to stick to "one place per date." That's lame. If she likes wakeboarding or you want to teach her surfing, do it! Then take her for a cruise in your corvette to a nice dinner. Maybe even a picnic on the beach. Then end the night at one of her favorite clubs or spots. Dating a friend can be a little awkward to start with, but this gives you dimension on your date, you'll have a lot of different conversation starters at different points on your date. Most of all, have fun! Relax, if you're already a great friend, she knows you'll most likely make a great boyfriend!
Best Wishes!

I think you should have a picnic on the beach then take her surfing. The picnic will show that you are considerate and that you want to spend time with her, and it will give you time to talk, and the surfing will show that you have a fun side. You can do the surfing first that way you'll have something to start the conversation with when you are eating...You can even have a friend set it up while you two are in the water.

Start out small and work your way up? Try the dinner-movie thing. I mean, think about it. How many people have gone to dinner and the movies for a first date, and have a good relationship. Practocally all of them! So just try it, and I hope it works. After ur first date, u can try something more exciting and fun. Just don't do too much, too soon. Good Luck!! :)

Take her to the park or around nature(like a zoo). Not ice skating! She may not like it and wont like falling in front of others or you! If she is shy, she may be more the intellectual type? Don't take her to a place where there are a lot of people, she will feel more shy. You could ask her where she would like to go after your first date. Have fun. Be sure and pay her a compliment. But don't overdo it.

personally for a first date, dinner and a movie is the perfect first date so you have stuff to talk about (the movie) and there is some quiet time that is taken up by the movie - you could do like an afternoon movie and go for a walk after and then get like ices or something like that - but going too big for the first date might scare her

Go to the beach for a day, but make sure it's not too hot outside and the beach isn't too crowded. DO NOT go to the movies! Contrary to popular belief, the movies are a bad idea. You don't get to talk at all and your night is pretty much ruined. The movies are, however, great for 3rd and/or 4th dates.

Some cool dates i've been on:
botannical garden in greenhouses.. it was a universities collection of all sorts of plants.. mainly for study.. which included japanese gardens.. and banana trees and plants that moved (folded their leaves) when you touched them. It was so cool.. relaxing.. fun.. like walking through a jungle. Find greenhouses near you, preferably university ones.
Butterfly garden.. they let hundreds of butterflies fly free in a garden that you can walk through. If you splash a little sugar water on yourself before you go then they'll be more likely to land on you. do a search for butterfly gardens near you online.
Visit a museum and look at all the old stuff.
go mini-golfing... go-cart riding, see who's better in the batting cages..
yeah, take her to a car show if she likes cars..
ask her what she wants to do that day and let her plan.. it'll take some of the pressure of you to impress and get to know what she likes at the same time.

take the boat out and tell her you are going on a three hour tour, then make sure the weather starts getting rough, then you loose control of the boat and run ashore on a small desert isle, you have no phone, no raft, no motor car, nothing at all , just the skipper, professor, a couple of old fuddy million naires, a movie star, a super hot farmers daughter, and GILLIAN.

the surfing thing sounds fun, but if you take her to a hot rod show she will see that you listen to her when she tells you what she likes! make the first date fun, but have lots of dates
so that you can do all the things you mentioned
