The first time I heard it was on the feed of attack of the show, and I was overwhelmed. Arent we supposed to save the envirment???? Why does it cost sooooo much? No one but the rich ppl are gonna save the earth, and we hate them so now what???

The Tesla will cost too much for most of us, but it is a sound business strategy. In order to pay for the research and development of their cars, they must put a high pricetag on, and sell to the wealthy folks first.
But Tesla has plans to build a family car in a couple of years, that will have a more reasonable pricetag. Sales of the expensive sports car will help make this possible.

I would need to know more about the car in order to give an informed answer but maybe there are features on the car that cost a lot to produce. The actual technology of building an electric car has been around since the early 20th century.
Check out the movie WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR? It's a documentary on how EV's are being squashed.

It's a lot of money, because the technology is still expensive. The price will eventually go down when it gets easier and cheaper to build.
For now, if you want to save the environment, drive either a hybrid car or a compact car... or even an ultracompact car like the Smart Car.

I think 100k is too much for ANY car. There must be cheaper electric cars. I've never looked into it, but I think Honda makes one, and I can't see them selling it for that much. I have seen some cars converted to electrical power by high school science classes and things like that, so it can't be as expensive as all that.

i think it is way too much. The money that you are saving on gas will never match those 100K you spent on the car. After certain years you wont want to drive an old car.. would you?

Yes, $100k is too much. The problem is the techology isn't quite here yet, and the infrastructure to produce such cars is virtually non-existent.
Why do you hate rich people? Rich people own companies and provide jobs for me and you.
