I had this happen to a freind at a stylist (except substitute "mexican" for "black", she's very fair skinned). She told the racist stylist to finish her off and the next day she wrote a letter to the corporate headquarters. Apparently the stylist had a record of insulting people and she was fired. And my freind got some free haircuts.
Moral of the story: racists usually have made other people mad, but they didn't say anything. Wise people stand up for their rights.

If I were a black person, I would probably laugh, call the server over and say "So you hate yourself, huh? Wow, that is really clever! I am proud that you are black, too." That would be a fitting bit of sarcasm.
But if I heard this as a white person (I am white), I might call the server over and say "This is absolutely inexcusable; I demand that you go over and apologize to that black person now, or I will take steps to make sure that this place does not keep racists around!" If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is people insulting black people because they are black. Sorry, but I would not have any sympathy for the server, regardless of color. I cannot accept someone insulting anyone in public because of their skin color. That makes my blood boil!!

Well i have many black friends and they say this all the time, almost as a frusterated comment and dont truly mean it nor do they mean hate as much as they dislike what you did because they see that trait in themselves and dont like it

I think i would go up tot hat servers face and tell them next time they wanna talk about me, because obviouly they were. Next time they shouldn't be a biatch and say it behind my back and be brave enough to say it in my face so i could slap the words out.

No tip, but I would not lower myself to the servers level by commenting on the remark.

I'd talk loud for the people on my same table about all the psychos in the world and about self respect and self appreciation

Whatever race was being slurred, I would ask for the manager and just let them know what was overheard from their staff. I would not otherwise cause a scene.

Seems like bias is owned by everyone... and I think the people who use it are usually insecure.... Don't let it bother you... Unless you are being inconsiderate or abusing!!!

If he was black, and I was black, I'd have no problem with it...If he was black, and I was not, I'd have no problem with it...if he was not black, and I was black, I'd ask him why he said that..and if he was not black, and I was not either, I'd still be pretty mad..
