It can. I see meeting people on the net the same as if you met someone at the mall, or a bar, or club. The net affords you the opportunity to chat with the person and learn more about him before you decide to meet him.
If you decide to meet him, make sure that you meet in a public place (coffee shop, restaurant, etc.) and let a friend know where and when you are meeting him.
I have met people from the net and it has been a mixed experience -- just like real life.

Yes!! Met my girlfreind on the net. i wasnt even looking. Everything is fantastic even though she lives 7000 miles away, we have spend much magical time together visiting each others country, and we talk on the net 2 hours a night every night. And guess what?? We are getting married soon. Maybe im just lucky, but i think the perfect person is out there for everyone, and the net makes it easier to find them.

The guys that I chat to most on the net and who I have more in common with always seem scared to meet up. The guys that want to meet up always end up being a disapointment. I say get to know them as much as possible and if they are up for a meeting go ahead, you've got nothing to lose. Just don't put your hopes up too much.

I think it could work because sex can't get in the way if you are talking over the net. However if you are going to meet let it be in a public place and don't go anywhere private with him until you are sure that he is okay. Trust your gut instinct. If it is telling you something is not right listen to it because chances are you are right.

my son met his wife on the net, married 3 yr, have 6mo old boy. They met over Napster when she downloaded some of his music. They took it very cautiously at first, both in their late 20's. But it worked for them.

depends on what you mean by 'work'? Successful marriage...very unlikely/ relationship of some kind, possible but don't get your hopes up/ total nutbag who ends up sending poo through the post to your mum...no current statistics, please check back.
