Your right....most do fear and that fear is not based on reality.
I think the fear is that they will change our culture and we will end up speaking spanish only, that is so ridicous and untrue....
As far as illegals, they are hard working people who just come for a better life. They have no education, no money, and NO POWER, so how can they change our society and culture? It takes money and influence to do that....
We should fear those who have power over us and that is our govt. They do make all the decisions and we entrust them with our hard earn money, they do hold the power. The media is also another powerful instution who hold power and can influence people or sway them to feel a certain way....
But your right they will not change America, we are a melting pot.

Thats quite charming what you are saying i would guess that you are about 15 years old. I don't think the US will ever be "like " Mexico, we are corupt but not in the same ways as Mexico does have high crime rates, but so does america, we have one of the highest crime rates of all 1st world countries despite the fact that crime is apparently at a 20year low, we still have a long way to go.. I think it's true that it would be nice to give as many of the Illegal imigrants status as possible, as you have said they are only here because they want a better life, and most immigrants work very hard and do their best to advance and blend with our own society, while adding their own cultural zest to the american flavor of life. I think some other alternative would be to have our government cooperate more with the Mexican government see if we can't help them to straighten their own problems out a bit, instead of relocating the majority of their population to the US....
Keep up the good work, critical thinking is an important thing that not enough people do these days. A very important man Mr. Lincoln once said that "the US would not be defeated from the outside, but from within when people give up there freedom and stop thinking for themselves.

From my own personal experience after living and working in
Mexico for 20 years, I can see your statement and your feelings. The people of Mexico are the nicest, kindess, cleanest people I have ever witnessed. But I must say that fact only when you get where US citizens (ie tourists) go. Be careful of calling the citizens of the U.S.A. Americans. The American continent covers from the tip of Argentina to the North Pole and everything in between.
Mexicans are very hard working, and family orentated. Most men are raised in the macho aspect of life. BUT, as you have stated the government is very corrupt. Again, since Pres. Fox was elected he tried very hard to change that. He failed. The new President is really trying. There may be light at the end of the tunnel.
Put yourself in their situation. You have a wife, and children. No job, and none foresable. You do anything you can to supply your family with housing, beans and tortillas. Even if you have a job, that is just about all you can afford. They have no social programs like welfare. You work or starve. So!
If you were in their position what would you do?
I agree, it is illegal for them to come to the US as they do. There is a legal way. Yes, it takes time. But it is there. And it works! Deport all who are illegal. Use the system.
Now for a no brainer. I don't know your age, but I am retired. From my childhood to my old age, I can see a great change. I feel our country is falling apart. I see our country falling apart. It is not a good scene. People don't want to work. (Put your average blue collar worker beside a Mexican, and watch the average worker produce a two thirds less than the Mexican.) We are lazy, want more pay, and produce less. Have bad attitudes, find fault with everything. We have let people take prayer out of everwhere, The Pledge of Allegience from all schools. Watch, next the National Anthem won't be sung at any event! We spend more than we have. (Both government and people) So my friend and fellow U.S. citizen, we are going to Hell, down the tubes, and if you go through world history you will see that other countries that failed-prospered above all before failure.
What can we do? Pray more, Save more, Aggrivate our Government leaders more, Work harder, ***** less!

Where do you get off saying it's Americas responsibly to attend to every person who leaves Mexico. Americans would have to dedicate their entire life to this issue. There is people in American living in poverty-- what's more important poverty in America or poverty in Mexico. America pumps millions in to Mexico after they eaten that meal that day then what ?? We should be reading how Mexico is addressing it's poverty issues what are they doing other then saying go to, America. This will be a never ending cycle. The poverty can't be all that bad for Hispanics for they have the fastest rate of birth in the country.A crime is a crime-- why can't I rob banks cause I want a better life why can't the bank give me a million they have so much money and I want a better life too, why can't I have a new car for a better life. Mexico is not the only country. Compare people living in Mexico and Iraq and Mexicans do have a better life.. Look at all the countries at war ruined life's and countries shouldn't these people be considered more important then the people of Mexico who has no conflicts going on or wars for the past 100 years why is Mexico considered the most important country on the face of the earth ???

Actually, Mexico is pretty safe. I've been there a bunch of times to various parts, and never had any trouble.
The USA is just as corrupt as Mexico, the difference being that in Mexico it is much more overt than it is here... here it tends to be done in the shadows while in Mexico the corruption is openly done.
I won't even get into the illegal alien debate, I'm tired of it.
You seem to have noticed that there is a big, huge, gigantic difference between the people who inhabit a country, and that country's government. I know lots of Mexicans who love their country, but hate their government. Heck, I love the USA, but I hate what the government is doing. It's too bad that more people can't make the distinction between people and government.
BTW, if you've never been outside of the USA (and Canada doesn't count) you should go.

This issue is seriously being worked on by this government to come to a solution. I believe its going to in favor of those wanting to come into this country from Mexico. Since they are going to come and a large no is already here it can no longer be ignored but must be dealt with. Its already been recognized that because they are good reliable workers that they would be a boon to the economy and we need this labor force for economic reasons. Its also a recognized fact that the government is has a history of corruption but that too has improved but the economic opportunities simply aren't there and one can't fault anyone for wanting to better ones life but this government is working to making that possible but we need it done in a legal manner. Even the most biased would agree that having such a large no of illegals is a drain on the economy esp schools and the health system. So you see its to all who are involved advantage to devise a effective and workable solution. I wish you a happy life.

But, whi says that our country it's not CORRUPT?. We been seeing corruption since i can remember. what about the first time that Bush jr. won the elections didn't they stolen from the Democrats i think that it's not a coincidence that in the state where his brother was the Governor is where everything went wrong to take away the victory of the democrats...
What about Boston, MASS.. the multimillion bridge it's falling in to pieces, that's corruption also right?
We like to talk crap about other peoples country, we hate Mexicans and i don't even know why, i think that we will always going to be surrounded by them since the states of CA,TX and i don't know wich other ones were part of Mexico, and as far as i know when we bought them from Santana no body deported the Mexicans that used to live there, so is so logical that the Mexicans roots are always going to be around the USA even if you like it or not.

I agree, most of the people who have problems with immigrants are those that have the least exposure to them. They are just people like you and me, looking to get away from their menial wages and harsh work conditions to find a better life. Its all the hate spitting rhetoric out there - they will steal our jobs, they will use up all our social security, they are cleaning out hospitals. There are problems associated with the large numbers, but most of those problems already existed. Social Security was going to run out, whether illegals are here or not. The medicare problem is not going away - especially when the majority of our citizens are soon going to be the elderly. We can point the fingers all we want, but what would life really be like without illegal immigrants? I tell you what, I am not going to go pick the oranges, cotton, etc. I am not going to work washing dishes. WHICH of you haters are going to fill in for them when they are gone???
I have also been to Mexico. It is beautiful once you get away from the border towns. Just like the tourist districts of any major cities in America - that is not what you are looking for if you want to see true culture.

No, I don't fear anyone. That includes the 2 billion dollar business that coyotes make yearly from getting illegal immigrants into our country, America genius. Guess what MORON, that doesn't get taxed either. The only thing I am worried about is the poor illegal immigrants that are slaughtered by thier own ppl for pure and simple greed! Go ahead, I guess there are enough illegal immigrants to further degrade into a slave wage situation by corporations and employers and corruption from thier own. You are quite the humanitarian.

why would we become like Mexico? If Mexico is becoming like the U.S. The USA was built on corruption. this is the most corrupt country in the world we just happen to hide it better. dick Cheney vice president of the USA and he was chairman of halliburton. halliburton has practically every military contract their is. they also are in charge of rebuilding Iraq. the government just gave 7.1 billion to fight bird flu. the company that got that contract is chaired by Donald Rumsfeld . read the story here http://www.commondreams.org/headlines06/0312-06.htm. we just do the corruption thing on a bigger scale. but i say let all the Mexicans in. pretty soon the USA is going to annex Mexico as little America.
