you could bring you kitten to the litter box and when the kitten goes to the bathroom in the litter box reward her or him.

Possibly the sides of the box are too high for him to get into? With new kittens, I use a cardboard box for the first week or so until they are big enough to get into a bigger box. Line it with a garbage bag first so it doesn't leak through to your floor.
Another possiblity is that the kitten doesn't like the cat litter you are using. Clay-based cat litters are dusty and can cause irritation in little feline noses. Clumping litters are best; they are relatively dust free and easier to clean up. If the litter is too coarse it could be irritating his tender paws. Again, clay litters tend to be coarser than clumping.
And then again, maybe he doesn't know what it's for? Every time you catch him going wee in a corner, rub his nose in it and put him in the box. He'll catch on eventually. Cats are generally clean creatures and want to dig and bury their stuff.
If you can afford it, look into getting a toilet-training kit for your cat when he's a little bigger. It's a litter tray that fits over your toilet bowl, but he has to be litter trained first! Sure saves on cat litter, once they are trained. If you teach yours how to flush, let me know how you did it!

Your new kitty will learn to use the litter box BUT... Be sure:

a) the kitty knows where it is;
b) The box is not too high on the sides so the kitty cannot climb INTO the box;
c) And I am sure you have no problem with this one since the kitty is small but in the future, always make sure that the box is large enough for the kitty (CAT)

I have had problems in the past but now I know how to correct them.. Good luck with the new Kitty!! Do not blame it.. it is learning.

you don't say how old your kitten is, or if he's using something else as a littler box, or just not going at all.....

everyone has great suggestions for teaching him to use the box...but, if he's real young...he may not be able to....you may have to wipe his bottom with a warm wet cloth to stimulate him to go, just like his mother would

it depends on what you do. i trained mine by outting it in the box. and watching it and saying no, and stay. stay by it at least 3 times till it is use to it. when it is it should get use to the litter box and if not than i wouldnt know what to say. i have had many cats in my years and this technique works on all of them so it is garanteed to work on yours.

how old is he? lock him in the bathroom until he gets the hang of it. that's what I had to do with my female kitty when she was a kitten. she learned, and has NEVER had an accident. EVER! Good Luck!! ^-^

You need to lock her in the bathroom at night with it along with a cozy place to sleep.Once she marks in it she will keep going back.Also,til she is older stick with unscented litter.
