Abstinence. 100% effective.
Acupressure. Place your right thumb firmly against the fleshy spot between your left thumb and forefinger. This is said to quiet the large intestine.
Alka Seltzer. May help relieve the headache and settle the stomach. Time honored, but marginal results.
Anchovies. Take three anchovies in a cup of ice cream before going to bed. The anchovy salt is meant to absorb the alcohol and the ice cream to coat the stomach. Stay close to the commode.
Aspirin. Calms the headache. But aspirin (ibuprofin, too) is a stomach irritant and may do your already distressed gastrointestinal system more harm than good. Coated aspirin will help here. Also, aspirin decreases stomach enzymes that help oxidize alcohol. So more alcohol gets into the circulation, increasing its impact. Tylenol is another option, but it stresses the liver, which is already working hard to process the alcohol.
Carbohydrates. After drinking, eat bread, pasta, cereal, nuts, fruits, and vegetables to restore blood sugar sapped by the alcohol. One of the best options.
Charcoal Tablets. For mopping up "congeners" (chemicals that trigger hangover symptoms). Burnt toast may also do the job.
Chicken Soup. It’s said to cure anything. Even if it doesn’t help your hangover, it may provide motherly solace.
Coffee. The caffeine will wake you up at the end of the evening. However, it won’t make you feel better or improve your coordination and judgement. You’ll just be a more awake drunk, which may not be good when what you need is sleep.
Cowboy Cure. Make a strong tea from jackrabbit droppings. Strain and drink every 30 minutes. For real men only.
Cucumber Juice. Squeeze the juice from a few cucumbers, add a dash of salt, and down before drinking. Russian remedy.
Drink by Rhyme. "Beer before liquor/Never been sicker./Liquor before beer/You’re in the clear." Poet laureate, McGrath’s Saloon, NYC.
Exercise. Take a gentle walk and a warm bath, followed by moderate to vigorous lovemaking. Increases alcohol metabolism, clears the mind, and elevates the mood. Repeat as needed.
"Go For It, Mr. Liver!" This Japanese cure contains vitamins, oyster extract, honey, ginger, and "secret" herbs. Taken to cheer up the liver as it labors away metabolizing the alcohol.
"Hair of the Dog" -- This English expression dates back to 1546: "I pray thee let me and my fellow have a hairs of the dog that bit us last night," from "The Proverbs" by John Heywood. Although there are individual and national preferred "dog hair," they all stem from one pedigree, more alcohol mixed with about anything. Examples: Vodka, egg yolk, pepper and salt (Poland); brandy with peppermint (Switzerland); tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce (American); whiskey, hot water and sugar (Ireland), and restauranteur Toots Shor’s "Bull Shot," -- a good shot of whiskey, ½ cup of beef bouillon, two teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce, two teaspoons ketchup, dash of pepper, two dashes of vinegar, the yolk of a raw egg; drink in one gulp (New York).
Heavy Cream. Drink a glass of heavy cream the night before and the morning after the festivities. Norwegian remedy. Ice cream is a popular alternative. The soothing, cool refreshing treat is said to calm the jitters and settle the stomach. Actually, any high fat food can slow down the alcohol absorption to keep you sober longer.
Herring. A plate of herrings with some bread dipped in olive oil and washed down with a glass of milk. Swedish measure.
Jezebel Tea. Fresh mint, celery, parsley, garlic, cinnamon sticks, cloves and chunks of ginger "boiled to death." Southern recipe for the day after.
Olive Oil. A small glass before and after the festivities. Favored by Jews and Arabs.
Owl Eggs. Seasoned with powder from ground-up amethysts. Ancient Roman remedy.
Oxygen. Pilots in WWII claimed that inhaling pure oxygen was a sure hangover cure. Expensive and not easy to come by.
Pepto-Bismol. To settle the stomach.
Poke-In-The-Eye. Cook bacon, remove the slices, cut a hole in the center of a thick slice of bread, place bread in bacon grease, crack egg into hole and fry.
Prairie Oyster. Egg yolks, tomato juice and Worcestershire sauce. Some variety of this is favored throughout the Western World. Non-alcoholic "Hair of the Dog."
Raw Fish. Fish is soaked two days in lemon and raw onions. Add hot sauce and eat with popcorn and beer. Japanese cure.
Roots. Roots of various kinds including dandelion root, yellow dock root, chicory root, and ginger root added to ingredients such as boiling water, honey and lemon juice. Chinese remedies.
Russian Spring Water. Tass News Agency reported on a wonder-working spring that was discovered last year in Tarnogsky Gorodok, a village in northwestern Russia. Drinking the water not only cures the hangover but also turns men (and women, we assume) into teetotalers. Not commercially available, yet.
Silk Worm Waste. The protein in the waste of silk worms lowers levels of alcohol and cholesterol, at least in rats, according to some Japanese researchers.
Swallow Beaks. Mix a quarter cup of swallow beaks with bitter myrrh. Ancient Assyrians’ cure in a time of many swallows.
Tea. Tea tonics -- particularly ginger tea, green tea and chamomile tea -- are popular hangover cures in Asia. They are believed to decrease the alcohol in the blood, soothe the stomach, and relax jittery nerves.
Tripe Soup -- There are many versions of this popular Hispanic hangover remedy. Generally includes beef tripe, pork tripe, or both, and squash, potatoes, plantains and yucca cooked as a soup.
Vinegar and Pickled Cabbage. Served as hot soup in a large bowl. Another Russian remedy.

Its ironic, but if you have a very bad hangover, the best way to cure it is to have 1 drink of the same stuff that you had in the night. It works wonders.
Of course, if you don't have any booze left, which would probably be the case since you have the hangover, have lots and lots of water.
I have learned a very nice way to AVOID hangovers. I drink about 3-4 glasses of water after a heavy night of drinking before going to sleep. That kind of doesnt let you get a hangover when you wake up.
