It depends what is causing your sadness. If it is biochemical you get help from a psychiatrist with medication. If it is trauma you get counseling. If you need to grow you grow and learn to live around it and make the best of what you do have. Please get help if you need it. You can get better. You do not have to feel horrible. You have a right to feel good. Doctors are there to help you. It is not your fault. Many people have sadness. It can be stopped and you can get back to your regular self. You can find a better place in your life and happiness. Something in your brain chemicals might just be stopping you. If someone is hurting you get help so they stop.

I have a lot of sadness in my life as well.
I try to be joyful about all that I have, and that I have it better than a lot of people, even with all I've lost. Now being joyful, does not neccessarily mean being happy, it just means that you have something to be thankful for, and you could be a lot worse off than you are, so you have something good there to dwell on instead of the bad stuff.
See a counselor if you don't think you can handle it on your own, it can really help to talk about everything, to get it off your chest so to speak.
Good luck.

Two places, happiness comes from within. You must be the one to let it out. Leave all your pain and find fun. The other place is your childhood. Whatever made you happy as a child will make you happy as an adult. For me it is bike riding and camping.

I try to look for something good in my life, something to be thankful for. Sometimes I may FEEL that "everything" in my life sucks, but statistically that's not possible. There is always at least ONE good thing in my life.

When I feel bad like that, I usually find that if I take an ACTION, I will feel better. Like, do something nice for someone else (without expecting a reward), or go for a walk, or go see a movie...

You find happiness always with God. Keep communicating and continue to pray. God will bring you out of sadness with happiness.

Learn about people more unfortunate than you.

I was feeling moody one day, because I thought I looked chubby in my swimsuit.

The next day, when I went to the pool, I saw this skinny girl swimming.

She was so lovely, I envied her.

At least I did, until I saw her climb out of the pool with an artificial leg.

I think of all the wonderful friends and family I do have and do things I enjoy doing. Sometimes you have to do things just for you. Even if it is only for 20 minutes a week, find something you really enjoy and do it.

Look at the positive things in your life instead of dwelling on the negative. Be thankful for the things you have in your life. Attempt to be an optimist instead.
