The last man I met who claimed to be a regular churchgoer admitted to having an ad on the adult friend finder website, which did not impress me. Besides, I don't think Jesus wants us to attend church in the name of lust.

whoaaaa everybody....I was just reading random questions and answers earlier, and noticed that this advice is given repeatedly, which prompted my question. I only mentioned my one experience as added interest. I'm just thinking out loud, so to speak.

Probably started years ago. Church goers are usually on a schedule, have full time jobs, etc. which would result in 'maybe' finding a soul mate.
However, a higher percentage of orthodox church goers attend as a social event. As wrong and embarrassing as it is, some go to church to find jobs, jobs = ca$h.
Some really believe if you give or tithe to a church, God will bless them with with wonderful jobs, resulting in more money, bigger better homes, cars, and basically material objects.
Believe it or not, my own sister called me one day and told me she thought she had found me a job ( with a member of 'her' church). She ended up saying "but you'll have to start going to 'my' church".
She also said Jesus talks to her. I told her she should not be acting that way, and what would Jesus think of her trying to work out a deal that ensures me with a job I might not even like, and then fill the collection plate as it comes around during the services. Good grief, that's the most blatant display of hypocrisy I had almost ever heard.

You're absolutely right by making the statement about not attending church for lust-full purposes, but many churches have singles night to allow people to meet. Some people think that it is best to find someone spiritually on the same level for a meaningful and "correct" relationship. Honestly they are no different than meeting someone outside of church. You still have to learn about that person & their ways just as anyone else because they may not necessarily be "holy".

No one is perfect just remember that. In the end It's ulitmately up to you on where you and that person take things.

I met a woman in church I thought it was going to be a good relationship since we had something in common but it turned out that she always made me feel as if I was in competition with God so there was no way I was going to win so it ended badly

is there a question here or just a rant?

people tell you to go to church to find a "mate" because they aren't in touch with the single people in any church. the single people in most churches are single for a reason (there are exceptions but come on).

go to church because you want a relationship with Jesus Christ and not for any other reason.

Girl, please let me school you....Dont go to church for the wrong reasons, go for your spritual upbringing and encourgaging to your inner soul. Dont go to find a man, just because they say that they arent involved doesnt mean that they respect your sexuality for what its worth, they will use the church to lure you in and then after they get what they want from you, they act like they never met you. And still go to church, in the name of Jesus! And who ever keeps telling you to find a man in church, you would do better personally I think with one, outside of the church's parameters. Thats just my personal opinion!

Maybe if you meet a man in church, you will know he shares your values. It's not necessarily about lust, but about finding someone who has the same beliefs as you do.
