If it was me, I'd say I wanted to be friends in the hopes of getting back together with you. If I really wanted to break up with you, then I'd never want to be around you again for a long time...at least until the hurt is over. It's hard for me to give up a relationship cold turkey. Since you instigated it, then I'd say "I still want to be friends" because I would want to make you happy and do what you wanted.

It means that since the relationship didn't work, that doesn't mean you can't see each other again but like friends. The guy is trying to make the break up has good as possible for both sides, that means that he's just a good guy. Friendship is very important, meaning that he enjoys speaking to you and he feels comfortable with you.

It could mean just that...friends. There is a reason you broke up with him......he might not want to feel insescure if getting back together and breaking it off again. Try it.....friendship is a wonderful gift no matter male or female.

They want you to stick around, its sometime hard to let go, the healthiest thing to do is to make a clean break for a while and then if friendship is the way forward, try and start it up as friends later, after you've both had time to adjust, i tried it the other way myself and it ended up messy, best to make a fresh break and start anew later.

Ok first off you must understand one thing. Men don't have the problem of sleeping with "friends" like girls do. They may value you as a friend genuinely, however if the situation ever came up where you were to ask them to sleep with you, the answer wouldn't be no unless you were say.....horribly disfigured at the time. Get the idea?

If you suggested the break up, he's probably not over you yet and just trying to stay close to you (i.e. best friends with benefits). If he were the one to break up with you, he's just trying to be nice.

It means that he wants to see if it really is greener on the other side of the fence, and if it isn't, then maybe you two could still hook up again.

It means he just wants to bang you with no commitments because you aren't good enough in his eyes for him to date!
