My son isn;t big on socks either, but the school can rasie a concern about this. If he gets sores on his feet or something they can look back as negelct. Yes it is silly, but it all depends on the school and the facility. I would try to get him to start by wearing them with sneakers. Tell him if he keeps them on all day he can get soemthing special. Like he can pick out his new pair of his favorite socks at the store . Etc..good luck...raising kids is soo hard and it seems people don't undertand!!!

Why not check with your school to see what the dress code is? I believe it's not wise to wear open-toe or open-heel shoes in schools, especially when the kids may be in a chemistry class and working with glass and chemicals that could break or spill. But if he wants to wear shoes without socks, there should be no problem -- except in gym class, he sohuld wear socks to avoid getting blisters on his feet during running or sports.

I'm from NJ, and unless it is written some where in the schools rule booklet, then no they can't do anything, unless of course for Gym, it is mandatory that you wear socks in gym for dress code. and as for him not wearing socks, well there isn't much you can do..just ignore it, eventually he will come to his senses.

ask him why he doesn't' want to wear socks..maybe buy him a good pair that doesn't rub ..some socks are terrible to wear.

MAKE SURE THE SHOES AND SOCKS ARE GOOD..MAYBE THE SHOES IS TOO TIGHT WITH SOCKS ON.

DURING SUMMER MAYBE HIS FEET GET TOO HOT.

as long as he washes his feet and you toss those sneakers often - dang they must smell :) I hate socks too, in summer I am barefoot whenever possible. School may have something in a policy somewhere, but doubt if they would make a big issue of it.

What's keeping you from asking your school district?

I think you should be thinking about the health concern. Feet sweat and the purpose of socks is to absorb that sweat. Sweat can attract and habor fungus and yeast causing discomfort and possibly leading to athlete's foot...

LOL, they have no say about that as long as he always has them on his feet and his feet don't smell as to disturb other students or staff. However, they can make up rules on the spot and inforce them. You really can't fight it either. However, this shouldn't be a problem. I've seen it happen and not a problem.

If it's the school's rules, of cos they can have things to say. That's up to you to sort out with him.
Sit him down and ask him why he doesn't wear them anymore, IF it upsets you so much.
Peace.

He's probably doing it either as a bet by a friend or just to annoy you...it seems to be working.

Ignore it, he'll start wearing them again when his tootsies get chilled!!
