im on medication that takes my appetite away. and i cant get on another med. thats the med i have to have. as far as i know, you have to eat a lot to gain muscle, right?
i dont eat a lot. i work 40+ per wk. and im a full-time college student.
so, sometimes when im hungry i dont get to eat.
i dont like junk food(McDs, Taco Bell, etc..) i want real food.
sometimes when im working out i feel so weak that i just stop and go home.
i believe that i should stop workingout and work out when my lifestyle changes, right?

Could be, YOU'RE TIRED! Working full time / college full time. If you still want to work out, which, if you're able to find time to do, I suggested getting protien drinks. Whether you feel hungry or not, have one before you work out / about 1/2 hour before and another within 1/2 hour after you work out.

Food is used to replenish your body to continue to work your 40 hour work week and go to school. Going without food is like driving around in the red on your gas tank. You're still going, but your body is not optimal. I guarantee that if you ate properly, you would have more energy at work and get better grades in school.

My advice is to eat properly first, then get back to exercising. I hear so many people say that they're begin exercising once they move into a new apt, once they get a new job, once they break up with their partner, etc. It really doesn't take planning to exercise, you just have to do it.

Go outside and walk around the block after each meal, just 15 minutes. At the end of the day, you'll have logged in 45 minutes.

Now about your nutrition, make a pact to stop by the grocery store every other day after work or school. Pick up what you need for the next two days. This way, fresh food will always be available and you won't be tempted to just skip meals.

What you eat matters. Your body is made up of cells that need energy from the food you eat. Eat french fries and your cells are getting energy from grease. Eat apples and your cells are getting energy from vitamins.

Hmmmmmm. You probably should lighten your workouts, not stop them altogether because it's a good habit to stay in. Eating a lot has very little to do with muscle gain. It's more about how you are working each muscle group.
What you need to do is put yourself on a schedule so you eat at least three meals a day or a few smaller meals each day. It sounds like you are in desperate need of the energy. You may want to talk to the doc as well to make sure the medicines' side effects aren't worse than what you're dealing with.

Never stop working out. Just because you don't eat alot does not mean that your heart doesn't need the cardiovascular activity. You should exercise, but also get some protien shakes or other "weight" gaining products that are healthy and nutritious so that even though you do not eat alot you still get what your body needs. Even Ensure could do the trick and also give you the energy you need. You are weak because you are not getting enough food (maybe). Also take a multivitamin and a B-12.

Darthbouncy is right! Re-evaluate the drugs your MD is giving you. Request him to do the same. If he refuses or blows you off, get a second opionion.

As a college student you should, now be getting used to the idea of questioning the status quo and finding alternative solutions. Consider speaking with dietition, or other healthcare professional. Most ailments are self inflicted and we are the cause of them through our lifestyles. Ask your doctor if you can change something in your lifestyle to improve your origional complaint (the need for the symptom causing drug.)

Never take your health into your own hands. But do not settle for sloppy beside manners.

In case you're wondering, I am a doctor, I work in group practice and frequently consult my peers. We don't know everything! Get several opinions.

Also, I am a huge advocate of excercise and healthy eating.

First, dont drink a protien shake before working out, its doesnt help your muscles, dirning it makes your blood fo to your stomach to digest instead of your muscles to get more oxygen, so thats never a good thing. gotta get blood in the muscles. 2nd, im a powerlifter and pretty hardcore about it and personally what i know is that somtiems the best workout is not working out. Stopping may not be teh route you want to take if your are trying to acutlyl gain some size. I work in construct from 7 to 4 or 5 and i get exhausted during the day, espceailly sense its summer now and the heat just kills me. Ive tried working out and somtiems if im just not feeling it, go home. WOrking yourself to completel exhuation like thatis terribnle, your muscles will never get to gtrow like that for 2 reason, one sense your working so much youll never get time to fully recover. 2nd proper amount of sleep is a natrual wat to increase Testostrone and will help in muscle gains.
If you cant eat after your workout, dont workout i speically planmeals based on off dayt and workout days. Bigger meals when i do workout. and if its getting to the point when you just cant succefully get a good workout, just stop. Maybe when things get more controllable picking up some iron never hurt, just need the right time and energy.
The meds however is no good, if it limits appitate, a shake after your workout is ok, but your body really needs is REAL protine, from steak and such, the fast digesting protien is good just to hold your body overbefore it starts eating your own fat reserves.
try protien bars to, met-rx are pretty expansive but so good. What in a price range is GNC brand names are alright, just get a flavor that has peanut butter in it so its softer.
