As a displaced person myself, I can tell you that people love the land of their birth and only leave it if it becomes impossible for them to stay. Ask any feng shui practitioner and you will learn when you live in a place for 10 years or longer you become part
of the local chi (life force).
The solution is of course to make every place on this planet a haven. Rich countries should help poor ones raise the standards of living, education, health care. Give them access to goods and services enjoyed by rich countries.
By the way did you know that American citizens like to live and
work in foreign countries. For example there are 165,000 US
citizens living and working in Australia.
If you want to discuss the matter further let me know your cotacts
etc and I will respond.

Whether you choose to believe that people came out of Africa, or people came out of Eden.. people have been migrating as long as we've been around. It's ignorant to think that people ought to stay were they came from. It's inevitable that people will bring their culture and traditions (in whole or part) with them, and most (though not all) will blend them with the new culture and traditions of their new home to find a balance between the two.
I use North America as a frame of reference (as it is my own), but there are a number of people who cannot be bothered to do anything, but collect government support. If someone from a foreign country wants to be a contributing member of a society, why not let them? Any impact made will depend entirely on the people in question, and their particular situation. If someone is leaving to get a better education, or a better paying job their country of origin is losing a productive assest, where as the new destination is gaining.
The measures required for effective and efficient immigration are complex, and without doubt will be expensive in terms of both money and resources. I think the fact that it is under-funded is showing largely in America, and her citizens are pointing the finger at the immigrants themselves, rather than those who are failing at their job, those who's responsibility it is to handle such matters.

First, I think it is more appropriate instead of Eastern Europeans into Western Europe, Africans to Western Europe but sometimes. Anyway, everyone has a right to claim greener pastures. Overseas workers in my country aren't just thinking of themselves but more importantly their families. If they had it their way, they would stay but the opportunities are gone. It is not their fault their country's leaders are corrupt and inefficient and they shouldn't be left to suffer. Besides, if they are legal aliens, they help the economy of the country they work in by bringing productivity and increased competition and are more assured of tax payments to the government than illegals. Of course it goes without saying that is is a different story for illegal aliens as there is a process to follow.

Rich people can only exist if there are poorer ones down the ladder of prosperity. Societies can only function that way. You have these people who do jobs that no one else is willing to do, and they do it for cheap. That's what america was founded on from the begining. As a matter of fact, america was founded by prostitutes and criminals for the most part. Then you got some black, arab, italian, and asian people immigrating, trying to look for a brighter future. America is by no means rich. It's in a huge debt. Your chance of success is high, because the possibility is there.
LOL, the guy above me is talking about culture. America has no culture. Define your great culture please.

it depends on what you mean by displaced peoples. are they displaced because of natural disaster that has left their home unlivable, or have they been invaded by another country, or are they at war? or are they simply moving from their country to the next sucking down the benefits and jobs of another countries citizens without contributing something to the country themselves? if it is the former then i think the country they are fleeing to should lend a kind helping hand. if it's the latter then they should go home and stop being a leeching parasite

It's an economical move, people move where they get paid more... We should have extensive guest workers programs adjusted to what is reality, so that we can control better the flux, and the impact is beneficial for everybody if done legally, what has not been the case...

IMMIGRATION IS A HORRIBLE THING. maybe a FEW for culture but they are ruining things and taking over things and draining money!!!!! from everyone! and taking money away from middle class people it is really wrong and ruins places and to their country it loses people but they bring money back from them getting jobs and taking it back to their family in the native place usually. but the population grows less and the money their can either go up a lot or plunge straight to the bottom. They should better control the immigrants coming in and they should learn english (to the mexicans)! they should let a few in a year and make sure that ONLY a few get in! to the 2nd guy culture bringing in mexican food and some art and stuff culture duh!
