I am truly sorry if this causes offence ( and I know it will) but I am absolutley petrified of people with dwarfism ( sorry if this is the wrong way to describe the condition) as a very young child I was kind of mentally tortured by a person born with this condition, he was a friend of my dads, he would often scare me by hiding in small places like under my bed, in my wardrobe and leap out and terrify me (im serious) he also told me he was evil and would eat me if I told anyone. I am not winding you up or joking, I know it was a long time ago and I am an adult now but I have never been able to shake this fear of these people, I hate it and i know it offends people but I just can't help it!! I am training to be a teacher and will undoubtedly come in to contact with these people sooner or later (children, parents) and I want to get over this ridiculous fear. sorry again for the offence caused I know it sounds unbelievable but hey dont know how else to put it. help???

Have a look at Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. You are traumatised and need to "reprogramme" the negative and fearful thoughts that you get from this.

It worked for me when I had anxiety attacks in response to working with a bunch of catty women.

Good luck.

Have you considered Hypnotherapy or NLP. If you can find a reputable therpaist who is qualified in both you could deal with this in 1 or two sessions alone.

It does not need to take a gradual approach of months of therapy, whereas with NLP, one of the most powerful beneficial therpies I have ever come across, can help you quickly for long tem benefit without the hardship of gradually tackling the problem.

The brain learns ptterns of behaviour quickly and those patterns can be "unlearned" just as quickly with the right therapist.

Good luck!

Well the best way to look at it is this: Dwarfism is just a physical trait like blonde hair, green eyes, gap teeth, ect. Think of how silly it would be to be afraid of someone just because they were blonde! Dwarfs all have different personalities just like everyone else they are human. Just think about it and eventually you will get so sick of asking why you will loose the fear!

When you develop fears very young may get over them or you may not. I know this because I was raped at 14 and I still have fear of men. I have chosen not to let them know I am afraid. Just because you are afraid it does not mean you have to show your fear. Find away to not react until you are alone. Try a few minutes at a time and make it longer until you are in control. I date and I still have some fears but I am the only one that know when I am afraid.

What an awesome phobia.

Whenever you meet a 'dwarf' you should explain this to them. They'll love you. In a kind of freakshow way.

You can use visualisation to imagine yourself being around a short person and being physically and mentally relaxed, and them move on to making yourself physically relaxed when around them.
(One good relaxation technique is to focus on parts of your body bit by bit, physically relaxing each one before moving on to the next.
Fingers > hands > forearms > upper arms.
Toes > feet > calves > thighs
Forehead > Cheeks > Jaw
Neck > Shoulders
Chest > Back > Stomach ).

If possible, get to know one (in person, not online) and spend time with them.

Your pick-up line could be "Excuse me, I know this may sound a little odd, but I have a phobia I'm trying to cure. There was this friend of my father..."

Who could resist such a heart-wrenching story?

Basically, if you've ever been enthusiastic about using hypnosis to be able to get a grip on the results of conversations to your gain, then you'll possibly have an interest in what's being taught in Black Ops Hypnosis, an on line plan you will find here https://tr.im/m6ekP .
This program, Black Ops Hypnosis consists in 3 major patterns. The practices from Black Ops Hypnosis are extremely sensible and work effectively in reality.

I can understand why you feel like that, it must have been terrifying as a young child. My grandad used to have a cat mask that used to make me totally petrified. Hypnotherapy! I think that would be the answer in your case. Good luck for the future.

This fear is not irrational and needs investigating more. Date some short males and see if your memory will come up with the answer.

Just imagine the guy in Happy Gilmore. You know the one who dressed like a cowboy and rode around on the stick horse.

Do you come across them that much? I only seen a hand full in person my entire life. I would recommend going to your doctor and telling him or her this so they can recommend you see someone that can help you with this. Alot of people have diffrent fears that affected them from childhood.
