I like buying my kids name brand clothes and they are only 27 months and 15 months. You don't always have to spend outrageous amounts on them either. I go to outlet malls, consignment shops, and garage sales. The outlet stores have them at manufacturers prices. I have gotten a lot of name brand clothes from garage sales and consignment shops that still have the price tags on them.

I have 3 kids. I do not buy name brand. I have a 10, 22mo and 12 week. The amount that I would spend on name brand would be better spent on something else considering the rate that kids out grow clothes. Then as they get teenagers it would end up outrageously expensive. I can see everyonce in a while but not all the time. I do by my kids old navy but that is only because it is cheaper than guess and the other name brands.

Some brand names are better than others. I have bought jeans from the childrens place, the jeans don't last a year. buttons break loose, after just a few washes. Gymboree fades easily, and the colors run. Tommy - the colors run also.
I never buy my kids clothes from target or kmart. They look so early 80ish - forget it.
I buy mostly gap clothes, and i shop on ebay the most. I spend less than i would at walmart!

I buy most of my 4 year olds clothes at children's place. I consider that somewhat name brand. The clothes are reasonably priced, they are stylish, and they wear GREAT. It is stupid to spend 50.00 on a shirt or pants for a kid that is going to grow out of something in 3-6 months.

I don't like buying name brands period. If you start indoctrinating kids like that as babies, you're going to be spending a ton of money on them by the time they get into middle school. It's simply not worth it. There are better things you can do with that money...like put it away for college.

Personally, I don't have the money to buy any brand new clothes for my daughters. I shop at consignment sales and garage sales for their clothes. As long as it's cute, not stained, and not warn out (good condition), I buy it. I find all sorts of name brand clothes for $.50 a piece. It works for me!
