I have four breeds of dogs and they are each great for their own reasons.
Minature Pinscher - Toby: He's great to cuddle with and is small so you can take him anywhere. Since they have terrier in their bloodline he also likes to play loads.
German Shorthair - Lara: She kind of your dumb blonde of the dog world. Very pretty to look at but nothing upstairs. Still she is really sweet and thinks she's a lap dog even though she weighs 50 lbs.
Greyhound - Misty: She is the elegant queen of the house and is very soft and gentle. She would spend the whole day sleeping next to me if it were possible.
Lab cross - Scooby: She is the scaredy cat of the house. Everything makes her jump but when she comes up and nuzzles you and looks at you with her big brown eyes, its hard to resist.

My favorite breeds are short hair and medium size breeds like the minature pinscher, beagle are specific breeds, which fit my requirements for a dog. they are easy to groom and small enough to be handled by my 11, and 8 year old boys. they also are breeds which have a specific use home protection, and hunting. two of the reasons for which I own Dogs. they also provide companionship for my family and my self.

I love so many dogs!! The first dog I ever had was an AKC registered black lab named Shotsy. She was beautiful. Unfortunately she had parvo because my birth mother didn't take her to get her shots and my dad was delpoyed.
My second dog was a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Australian Cattle Dog mix. She was the smartest dog I ever had! Beautiful, too!
I've also had Australian Shepherds, Pit bulls, Chow Chows, and German Shepherds.
I love ALL dogs! I'm a regular Dr. Doolittle when it comes to animals.

I usaully prefer the smaller dogs like pomeranians because they are easier to keep in doors and take places, but Boxers are the most loyal companions I have ever had I have two boxers and wouldnt trade them for the world..

Personally, I prefer retrievers (golden and labs) for many reasons. First, they are good dogs to play with (ie: tug of war, fetch, etc.) Second, they are good watch dogs. Third, they tend to be good with kids and old people. Fourth, they are fairly easy to train. And fifth, they are just too darn cute!!!

I have a maltipoo and i absolutely adore her.(Maltese cross poodle) Maltipoos are incredibly intelligent, long life span (14-18 years) , they don't shed. Great with children, not prone to health problems, fast learners, small enough to carry anywhere and freakishly cute.

Depends, if I went looking for a dog, the one with the saddest eyes at the pound would win my heart.
